Sotnas, been following the discussion on here. Do you know is there anything in the other article in "record" (? is that right) which I think says Moutinho was copped shaking hands with the bigwig from Porto?

Yeah, that's true. A few months ago Porto's president stated that the only player from his rivals that he would sign would be Moutinho. He told the press the little guy was someone who he appreciated but he aknowledge that Porto didn't have 25M to spend on one player.

The meeting was casual. Moutinho went to see Pini Zahavi who would have lunch with Porto's president after the meeting with Moutinho. So the two crossed roads.

Nothing special, really.

Andy Johnson nears Everton exit as David Moyes eyes Joao Moutinho

Everton v Brann - Andrew Johnson

ANDREW JOHNSON edged nearer the Goodison exit last night – as David Moyes prepared to step up his pursuit of Portugal midfielder Joao Moutinho.
Johnson was not among the party that travelled for last night’s 1-1 friendly draw at Nottingham Forest.
The striker will also remain at home when the squad fly out to Chicago this afternoon to begin their 10-day tour of the United States.
Johnson’s Goodison career has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with Wigan Athletic, Sunderland, Fulham and West Ham United tracking the striker.
Fresh doubts emerged over Johnson’s future when he opted not to play in Tuesday’s friendly at Preston North End, a decision that enraged Moyes.
And with Fulham understood to have made a £10.5million offer for the England international, the signs are that Johnson will be allowed to leave once Moyes has lined up a replacement, with Real Zaragoza’s Diego Milito his main target.
Moyes is keen to ramp up his recruitment efforts, with Sporting Lisbon playmaker Moutinho one of his leading targets.
The Goodison manager has been undeterred by Sporting’s declaration earlier this week that they have no intention of selling the 21-year-old.
And Moyes is ready to test the waters with an opening bid for the player, on whom Sporting have placed an unrealistic £20m price tag.

The only news I found in today's portuguese press is about Everton being interested in Vagner Love and this interest could interfere with the Moutinho deal.

Everton are unwilling to reach the 25M euros mark.

One paper says we are in talks, the other is the article posted above about selling Johnson to fund the deal.

If me missed out on both Fernandes and Moutinho I'd cry. Either one would do but missing out on both would be devastating.

I've got a feeling if this Moutinho thing drags on it'll be too late to sign Manny. He's supposedly impressing the Valencia coach with his attitude.

Everton boss David Moyes will use the Andy Johnson transfer cash to meet Sporting Lisbon’s £18m asking price for Joao Moutinho.

Johnson is expected to complete his £10.7m switch to Fulham in days – paving the way for Moyes to make his first big transfer splash of the summer.

Portugal midfielder Moutinho is top of Everton’s wanted list and talks between the clubs to bring him to Merseyside are now under way.

Moyes broke the club’s transfer record when he signed Yakubu for £11.25m from Middlesbrough last summer and he’s willing to do it again to land Moutinho.

Everton value him at just under £16m but Sporting won’t sell at that price, and the Toffees plan to return with an improved offer in the next few days.

Moutinho, 21, will meet his agent this week to discuss his future but has been told he can leave by Sporting, who are keen to cash in on one of their biggest assets.

One potential stumbling block is that Everton want to spread the cost by paying in yearly instalments, while the Portuguese club want the bulk of the fee up front.

Super-agent Pini Zahavi is brokering the deal and remains confident it will go through once Moutinho’s personal terms are agreed.

Its promising reading, but it means nothing untill we see the players signed. Sounds like a lot of papers are going with the story, i hope its not some fabrication from this board again, and we are looking to back the one good thing at the club at the moment, David Moyes.

to back the one good thing at the club at the moment, David Moyes .

That comment really makes me cringe- The one good thing at the club?!

Forget Arteta coming back from injury, Vaughny well on his way back as is Cahill. Forget the fact we finished fifth and with a bit more luck could have actually finished 4th. God I give up.

Get you, all upset, grow up. My dig is at the board not the players, i didnt feel the need to name the whole squad. Moyes brought those players mentioned through the ranks, so yes he is the one good thing, if we didnt have him here, you wouldnt be rolling out those players, thats for sure. Now stop getting all upset on an internet forum, thats all it is, a bit sad really.
