Unless Pienaar or Rodwell/Fellaini leaves, I just can't see this one happening. Would love to have him in our team, but think Landon Donovan will be our top transfer target this summer. Won't have enough money, unless we sell I'm afraid.

Love this thread! Might reopen the Huntelaar one just for giggles!

We won't get him, might not even go for him, and possibly don't even need him....

...but if we do get him, i'm def getting name on my next shirt!!

His lack of height wouldn't be all that much of problem, we have enough height and physical presence to make up for it in other areas. And I very much doubt you'd see a midfield consisting of Osman, Moutinho and Pienaar week in week out.

The problem for me is where do you fit him in, is he the player we need? The answers no, certainly not for the big money we'd have to pay for him. We needed a player like him a year or two ago but Arteta has stepped into that role now and in my eyes, we have a more rounded centre midfielder. Not only that, but there's no risk there, Arteta is a proven performer at a high level, he's one of the best midfielders in the country.

Moutinho is a very good player, he'd be a welcome addition to the squad, but he's not exactly what we need at this moment in time. Not as a wide player or as a central midfielder.

There is no one in the Everton squad that by himself can match Moutinho's passing ability, consistency and intensity.

Arteta might be a great passer of the ball but he lacks the tempo and intensity of Moutinho (he's a great dinamo). The same goes with Osman. Besides that, tell to play as the holding midfielder and Moutinho will do it. Tell him to play as the attacking midfield, and he'll do it equally well. Tell him to play on the wing to balance the side and help on defensive duties and you won't notice him but he'll be playing a major role for the manager.

If you have seen him this season, you have been watching the worst season in Sporting's history since I was born. Moutinho is having a crap season but the best thing I could tell you about him is "you don't notice him much on the pitch but pull him out of the first eleven and you will notice his absence".

And he has missed something like 3 or 4 matches in 5 seasons in all competitions. Plays as many times a week as he's asked always with great commitment, and he never gets injured. The other day he had a muscular problem and he was doubtful for a match...that was big news around here. At Goodison he was substituted...first time since I remember.

You don't have anything like him in the squad.

We have 11 players on the pitch. We don't need one man to do it all, but seriously, I admire your loyalty to the lad, but there would be a lot of names before him on my 'saw a great player today' list.
Doing it in Portugal, and doing it in the Premiership might be a little different.
