Mourinho to Man Utd

All the negatives behind Jose is the reason why he'll get them back to the top

He'll manage for 3 year minimum, spend loads, and barely give youth a run out...but it'll also get them consistently in the champos league, win them trophies, and get them challenging for the title again. Which is what they need to put them on track.

They can sort their identity out afterwards.
Hasn't he always left a club within 3 seasons? If so pretty bold prediction, personally think he'll be out within two years and acrimoniously at that but guess we'll see.

Wasn't he also after Rooney?
Yeah but Rooney now claims himself he cant play striker.

That would make sense, Mourinho likes older strikers hence the reason we got Lukaku as he preferred Eto'o and Ba.

Mourinho gives game-time to young players that have built up decent experience already (Zouma, Hazard and likely would have Dtones) but is generally awful for lads out of an academy - Chelsea has one of the best youth setups in the country and he didn't given any of their lads a sniff despite saying he would do when rehired.
Don't think Santon or Varane had much experience

Mourinho and Man Utd are not a perfect fit,Pochettino,Klopp even Tuchel are a better fit. This smacks of desperation because of top 4. He'll be gone in 2 years after they win the league and the young players have had enough of Mourinho.

Once Man Utd have been ticked off the list there's no where left to go. Fiver says Mendes the greedy effer gets him a job in China or Qatar.
Don't agree. I think he's the perfect manager for us now and back in 2013. Also don't understand this extremely high rating of Pochettino...maybe when he wins a title, shows his ability in Europe and finishes above Arsenal. He got 70 points...AVB got 72 and Tim Sherwood 69 last season.

He was sacked at Chelsea the first time in his 4th season. I think they lost the title by 5 points to us in the 3rd year, got to the CL semi final and won the FA Cup + league cup. The sacking happened after 6 league games when they were on the same points as United...was a bit nuts by Abramovich

Porto he had achieved everything there and it was time to move on as they are a selling club and sold half of that CL winning team.
Inter he won the treble, Moratti achieved his aim of getting the CL and most managers see Real Madrid as the biggest job in the world.
Real Madrid he lasted 3 years and I think that's a bit longer than most others at that club. Ancellotti only got 2 before he was sacked

I've known Mikey a good while now and you'll never find a more passionate Everotonian. But we are all that and we all just want us to win.
I for one think winning things is overrated and would like to see us focus primarily on a healthy balance sheet.

But Santon was in 2008 - doesn't seem to provide much balance compared to Lukaku, De Bruyne, Loftus-Cheek, Lewis Baker and the countless other Chelsea lads that didn't get a look in during Jose's stints in charge.

However he's your manager now for better or worse.

What I don't want is for us to have a very short period where we win something with a bunch of overpaid mercenaries, only to then end up back right where we were once they leave

I want sustained success over decades

I want a manager to come in and create a dynasty using players from the youth set up, like Ferguson did with the class of 92

I want to pass down to future Evertonians a successful club

I don't want to be lamenting with kids in 20 years time that they've never seen us win anything, the way older supporters who remember the 80's have to do with me

You should want Everton to be successful FOREVER, not just once or twice in a 40 year period

The time for short termism is dead. We finally have the resources to build something that will last

We can afford to develop and hold on to this batch of young players

For the first time in decades, we control our own destiny

Yes, we'll need to make some big signings, of course we will, but we should be looking to promote from within also

If we'd had Moshiri's money a decade ago, we'd still have Rooney and would have probably built a title winning team around him

Now is the time to finally build the team you and I would have wanted to inherit

Not just you and me, but @nosejam , @Roztitute and others. Loyal blues who've seen us win naff all because we inherited a club on it's arse

Let's not let the next generation have to do likewise eh?

Let's build that dynasty

Let's get a manager in the vein of a Jogi Loew and let him build something amazing
A good post. My only concerns are what won things in 1992 may not apply any more. The game has changed. For the worse but changed still. Kids won't win you much of anything without those well paid mercenaries.

For years and years I have heard about how good the Chelsea academy is and I'm yet to see any manager there make use of the youth products. Mourinho, Grant, Scolari, Hiddink, Ancellotti, AVB, Di Matteo...I just don't think that Chelsea as a club are bothered by it as otherwise surely one of them would have started putting them in. Chelsea's season has been over for a while and we still haven't really seen any of the 4x in a row FA youth cup in a row players in the team. Hiddink has no pressure on his job either as he is leaving so you would think it would be a perfect time to play them

Lukaku and De Bruyne were mistakes but I don't think any manager has a perfect record there. Even Ferguson managed to lose Pogba by not giving him games when he was clearly ready.

Agree no Chelsea manager has really made use of it, crying shame really as there are talented lads there. But Mourinho made a point when he was rehired that he'd use them....and didn't. Indeed he almost seemed to go out of his way not to.

Perhaps he'll happily stay more than 3 years and integrate your youth/academy lads but I'd put good money on him doing neither. Not that many coaches do either these days anyway which imo is a pity.

How many of the top 4 usual suspects do use a youth system though? Its easier to bring in established players plus the likes of chelsea fans dont care as most of them have no real attachment to the club
