Arteta and Neville give us so much stability in the middle, even today they defended superbly and kept things moving without ever getting a grip of the game.

Thats what tutelage at barca get you and the ability to adapt and apply oneself to the job required from taggart. yes I saw phyllis throwing his handbag around commanding the line to step up and squeeze them out of the box (easy sailor) captains performance tonight. and hibbert was nothing short of brilliant. like pistone at left back a few seasons ago at LB hibbert could be on for most improved.

Pienaar covered so much ground, looked the hungriest out of all our players to get on the ball as often as possible and they really didn't look at all comfortable with him running at them at every opportunity...
His 1st touch is immense - doesn't matter if there's a guy 2 inches away or someone a foot taller than him pushing him in the back, you know he's keeping that ball at his feet and 9 times out of 10 is going to turn and skin somebody.
Only gripe is his final ball, but against most other teams, he'd have just kept on going and walked it into the net!...

Its Steven Gerrard in his most threatening position on the pitch, regardless of who you are marking, he has one thing on his mind and you charge at him. Lescott and Jags should have both bust a gut to close that shot down.

Cahill scored, and annnoyed the hell out of Skrtel too (which helps) so hes got a chance. Jagielka was class at the back, put Torres off from scoring, got some great tackles in - so hes in with a chance...Lescott was solid, and Anichebe had a great game. Baines also had a good game and got one or two dangerous crosses.
...Decisions...decisions...Ill go with the Goal Scorer. He annoyed their defence, got them frustrated, and scored the all important goal. Baines closely followed.

you're right Bill, I was thinking the same thing. It's a shame as Yobo's a top defender, I don't like Lescott's attitude that he sulks if he's not at centreback, but what can you do?
Maybe not isnt big Jo next in line for a suspension!
