Nile.

Should be the biggest death metal band of all-time imo. To me this is the best album the genre have ever produced (disclaimer: I obviously haven't heard them all lol).

The Replacements should have been the biggest band in the world, but had an incredible knack of shooting themselves in the foot at crucial moments.

Nile are incredible. To maintain such a high quality of output over so many albums with only one or two slight dips in quality is some feat.

Agree that "Annihilation..." is their best.

This song you hear both Drake and Lennon's influence. I mean who else has ever written a song about struggling with addiction, specifically heroin addiction in this case, and made it sounds so beautiful in such a stark, haunting way.

Their earlier proggy stuff was pretty interesting but their soft rock pomp leaves me cold.

Neutral Milk Hotel. One of the most critically acclaimed albums but very rarely talked about when mentioning the greatest bands.

I think I will throw Dinosaur Jr into the mix too.

I went to see them years ago, never seen a band do so many bloody encores. Done my head in as I was desperate for a cigarette.
