its fellaini by a country mile. when hes on form he is unstoppable unplayable and owns the pitch. theres been games where ive watched him in complete awe that we have someone like him in the premier league, let alone our club.
he can tackle pass shoot dribble , good with his feet , good with his head , can play in 2 or 3 roles. hes epic !
if he ends up leaving id be gutted , but id proudly tell my kids and grand kids one day about a afro haired belgium legend who once played for everton , bossed the pitch , and who was one of the best players id ever seen.

does my head in that being a defender means your not skillful/talented!!!

i'm gonna throw a curve ball though i do mean it and say coleman! his defending is getting better by the game and going forward his crossing and awareness is great!

so there!

I play both in midfield and defence, I'd saying being a good midfielder requires a bigger and far rarer skill set than a defender requires

It isn't really just talent that defines a top footballer - instead it is the ability to deceive the opponent. Messi has it in spades.

Kev has that wonderful ability to be able to take on the opponent the moment the ball is at his feet. Baines has it and Pienaar to a lesser extent. Fellaini to a degree and Osman but more with a pass than anything else.

Watch Mirallas at the point he receives a pass - he is ready to act much quicker than most.

All round talent - got to be Fellaini. A good judgement is how they'd be in a top team with better players round them....for me Fellaini and Baines would be, Mirallas and Seamus would be seriously pushing.
In terms of all round mastery of what's required at Everton then it's Distin (who is hugely underrated) and The Jag.

Barkley is an enigma....I think he'll go the way of Vaughany, Victor and Rodwell rather than the way Rooney went.

I'd say Mirallas, I've never seen a player for us skip past players like he does for a long time.

Hopefully we'll see the best from Mirallas this coming season

We're you around when Andrei was skinning full-backs alive and scoring regularly? If not, get on YouTube and watch him....top class. If Kev meets that level we're in for a treat.

Most Talented for me is Jags......The sh!t he does in defence to save our ass sometimes is amazing....I always feel comfortable when he is challenging for the ball and know he is always going win it.....Not to mention his reading of the game and the amount of times he has put his body on the line to block a shot.....That is pure talent if you ask me...

Most exciting for me is Coleman......when ever he gets the ball in the final third on the wing I get butterflies waiting for him to make one of those dazzling runs into the box...granted Mirallas can school a few defenders too, but at the moment he does not seem to pick his moments as well as Coleman who seems to have a higher success rate when he tries....Plus Mirallas goes missing for 90% of games......

Baines and Gibbo are definitely the 'smoothest' players to watch and Pienaar the trickiest....

As people have mentioned some players are brilliant in certain positions and this could also be classed as talented. In my opinion and I think what the OP is asking is the ball skills. If this is the case then Mirallas is no.1 for me then Peinaar the rest of our team are talented in said positions but these 2 are our only ones that can deceive the opposition rather than out muscle.

I totally disagree....Muscle can only get you so far in being a good defender.......Jags has the most talent in being able to read the game and out think his opponents....in the position he plays this has just as much weight as being able to 'decieve' the opposition or have great 'ball skills'.....if the OP wanted to know about ball skills he should have said so in the title. Also, I doubt he would have mentioned Fellaini as competition to his choice Mirallas if that was the case.....talent wise for me jags has it all day.....his talent is just as important as dribbling, passing and shooting

See what you are saying but Jags is a decent defender full stop. Talented Yes but most talented I tend not to agree.

I'd really love to hear people's justification for saying Barkley is the most talented (naturally or otherwise) footballer at our club.

I know we all desperately want him to succeed at Everton, but aside from the occasional moment, he's not done a great deal to make me think he will. Seems to have it in his feet, but not in his head - his decision making is AWFUL. Hopefully this will come with time.

We'll see I guess... REALLY hope i'm wrong.
