Thought he did alright, put himself about and got stuck in now an again. Much better than Rooney and Davies who he had next to him.

He ain’t bothered what we say about him, perhaps he bordered on average today, usually he strolls around disinterested, stands off any challenge that may see contact, that’s the defensive side covered. Offers little going forward, I reckon he has a pass or two in him but takes the safe option most times and rarely seeks the return pass. Doesn’t create anything and is poor in the air in either box. Has size, but not stature.

At Southampton he had drive and purpose, looks as though the past transfers have made him so financially comfortable he simply has little to prove. He is the type of player that creates the malaise which exists in Everton’s first team. I’d ship him out as quickly as possible - young Beni has more drive and ambition than this prima dona could ever attempt to rediscover - lacks the character to take us forward. Regrettably, the salary we have presented this lad creates a problem of our own making. Can’t see a long queue asking for his services, he has little motivation to improve, no World Cup, little to prove. Just hope another ‘project’ takes his fancy and we say goodbye to one another in the summer.

He has always been this type of player. A neat and tidy footballers type of footballer. He works well in the right team with the right system. On his own he is distinctly average yet technically proficient.

Don’t disagree, he has the tools and can, on his day, be effective. My point is that I don’t see the desire or determination in his game, which got him his big moves North. Without that he is as ordinary as a Tom Cleverley or a Scott Gemmill when he could add a lot more to what we are seeing each week. I genuinely don’t think he’s overly bothered in trying to improve his game or getting back to the level that saw him capped by France. To me, it’s the wrong attitude to have around the club.

He was very good and committed. Lots of applause from the paddock. Anyone hear Alec the rrrseholle on Radio Merseyside after the game who clearly had not been to the game and trotted out his anti-Schneiderlin agenda and said he was "diabolical"?
