anyone watch the concacaf champions league final? its 2-legged so a bit rubbish, but the first leg was pretty good.

Real Salt Lake played mexican club Monterrey. Monterrey scored around the 20th minute and bizarrely subbed off two players (including the goal scorer) immediately after the goal. RSL equalized before half time, and the game finished 2-2. Since the concacaf uses the same away goals rules, and the game was played in monterrey, the second leg should be pretty exciting.

Watched the highlights, and I'm super duper proud of MLS right now. Seriously - we have come SO FAR in just a short period of time. And I do say we - there are several teams that are solid even though RSL is light years ahead right now. I hope RSL win the final - I just want to see an MLS club in the FIFA Club World Cup. Seriously - how amazing would that be after only 16 years in existence?????????? Even if we get beat 5-0 in the first round, who the crap cares? We went!

The officiating (along with the bizarro subs) was what I expect of MLS/CONCACAF though - two missed handballs, I think another one was called when it wasn't a handball (make up?), and a yellow instead of a red for a player with a chokehold around the neck of another player (uh, say what?).

But hey, we're here. In terms of the CCL - go RSL! (when they play the rest of the league in normal play I hope they rot)

Watched the entire match last night between RSL and Monterrey.

Great viewing but I went mental when the ref didn't send off number 17 for Monterrey when he put his hands to Saborio's neck/face. Gave him a yellow instead.

Completely bottled the call as there's no leeway there. Hands to neck/face? Automatic red card.

Agudelo's goal vs Spikey's United... is he really going to be that good? I hope the states can produce a great Striker.... he has shown that he can actually score........

Fantastic goal by him. And kudos to him since he was a late second half sub (no sulking - you hear that Anichebe?).

Somewhere Jozy Altidore is weeping. (and I have nothing against the guy - but when was the last time he did this?)

I feel Juan for Gold Cup gathering steam....

EDIT: Let's place bets on when this kid is headed for Europe. I don't think this season, but then again, if he's a starter at the Gold Cup, could change.

Anyone have thoughts on Feilhaber to the Revs (other than you, TX Bill...Houston tried really hard to get him...)?

My .02: he is absolutely needed if he keeps his head (and avoids displaying the prima donna behavior he's rumored to have) to key the Revs attack. He's been played on the wing primarily in Europe, but will not be effective there in Nicol's system. He needs to move centrally and feed the attack, while allowing Shalrie to move back to the holding role he is most effective at. That should finally give the Revs some possession in MF, which they've been glaringly missing this season. Our brand of football has been brutal so far this year.

Revs absolutely stink in midfield and up front (although I thought Lekic had a lot of energy in his first match). Their strategy so far this year is let Shalrie Joseph spray the ball around and hope the other team can't find the back of the net.

Houston should have won by 5 goals last weekend, and that was even with a pretty strong effort (effort, not necessarily performance) in defense. The Revs absolutely had 0 possession in that match. I'll be in attendance tomorrow night to see how things go vs. KC.

FFS. I missed the game as I was out with friends, but what a goal!!! Shame it was against United though.

consider yourself lucky. i've been away at school so it was the first game i could attend since last summer, i think its the worst i've ever seen us lose in person, after agudelo's goal i was absolutely gutted (although i couldn't tell quite how nice it was in person)

Feilhaber to the Revs will be a big fat help. That team needs creativity and some attacking flair bad.

Do we know why Najar didn't play? That's odd.

A lot of people here wanted him. I didn't.

Good player. Not what we needed though.
