Bump time. Here's that Rizzo catch in the second row - this isn't the one from last year. This happened Tuesday night.

This time he danced on the wall rather than the tarp. I bet he has a lifetime supply of Reynolds Wrap - it's made of aloooooominum, you know.

Who the heck is Al U. Minium anyway?

Must be something about those Brewers...

from last year...

Back in my personal thread...

My Cubs start a series with the Dodgers tonight, and I'll be watching, but I won't be listening to Len and JD on WGN or whatever cable feed it will be on tonight.

I'll be listening to Vin Scully. Just a reminder to all baseball fans that he will be stepping down after 67 (that's longer than I've been alive, and believe me brother, I'm old) years behind the microphone for first the Brooklyn, then the LA Dodgers. Words fail me. If you love baseball, I invite you to join me at some point this season and remember to hear the best ever do his work.

Thanks, Vin. He's still the world's best at what he does. What a legend.

BTW, you are invited to show your age and tell me who is holding the glass. He was the absolute best at what he did for a much shorter time.

Koufax, yes. Like a comet across the sky, he was. He was everything you could ask for, and then he was gone.

Who knows what he could have done with modern training and sports medicine.
Very true. Then again there is something so compelling about his period of utter dominance. Reminded of the Neil Young line "better to burn out than it is to rust"

Fins, Giants and importantly Cards lose last night.

Thor tosses a gem and just like that, the Mets and their slowly improving bats are just 2.5 games back.

Just watching the Cubs @ Brewers. I know its only a 90 mile trip to Wrigley North but there must be about 15000 Cubs fans there.Boss away support by the Cubbies Faithful.

Go Cubs go!!!

The New York Mets signed former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to a minor league contract on Thursday, the team announced in a press release.

The 29-year-old Tebow, who held a workout for scouts and evaluators from 28 major league organizations last month, will play in the Instructional League, and could also be sent to the Arizona Fall League, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted.

Though he hasn’t played competitive baseball since high school, Tebow impressed some scouts with his raw power and bat speed during the August workout. He played the outfield during the showcase. FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal said there were about eight teams in the mix for Tebow. Atlanta Braves General Manager John Coppolella this week publicly expressed an interest in signing Tebow.

The Mets will be Tebow's second go-round in New York. He was the Jets' backup quarterback during the 2012 season.

It's a long shot but what a story it would be if he makes it to the majors
