Is that Bob Hoskins?

That's Cubs manager Joe Maddon, who would probably take the Bob Hoskins comparison as a huge compliment.

Looks like the Cubs get Chapman.

Should cost the Cubs: Gleyber Torres, Billy McKinney, Adam Warren, and Rashad Crawford.

Yep. Warren goes back to NY with three prospects that probably wouldn't have found a roster spot in this organization.

Let's see which Chapman shows up.

If he has his command, he's el ultimo jefe. It's Theo's world... We're just living in it.

I don't know what loads of this means.

Is he good then?

My current faves are:
De Grom
Cespedes
Familia

Your Mets need a quality catcher right now like a corpse needs a coffin. Lucroy is that. If it goes down (it may yet go all Everton) especially if he goes for d'Arnaud and "considerations" you should be made up. The catcher is the captain on the field and runs the game while you are on the defense. You're lost without a good one, and you don't have a good one.

Now i've finally rewired my PC to work again (Went off during the draw with Southampton in April, says all about my rewiring  ) I can review my Mets season thus far.

In One word.... 'Typical'.

It's almost the polar opposite of the surge from the season before. Being realistic, I looked at the 2015, with great excitement before it all kicked off, whereas this one had expectation. The Nats (and to some extent the Marlins) both had to prove a point, the Mets - never known for their favourites tag - had all the pressure.
I feel everything kind of aligned magnanimously for the Mets last year, the Cespedes, Uribe and Johnson signings (Although i'm amazing we even won any games where O'Flaherty pitched.... seriously... he's a Major Leaguer?) literally went in our favour so much, that when we rolled out of DC with the sweep we weren't in danger of being caught.

This season, we've been riddled with injuries, again, i'm sat questioning Harvey's commitment to the cause (we all know Boras is a money grabber) and whether deGrom or Syndergaard would rule themselves out for the season. We've had the pleasantries of watching Familia be ever reliant (excluding last night. It's 1-0 against the Rockies as i type this and he's due up. Last season I criticised Familia after he blew a save, as his head went (on multiple occasions, WS included), hopefully this season is different), but apart from a bit of a bright spark by Matz in May, and Syndergaard, the pitching has been hugely inconsistent, that added to the huge drop off in bats has been a huge contributor in the Mets being less successful on the field this year. But still here we are going into August and as it stands the Mets are only 5.5 back of the Nats.

Whether they spring another Cespedes deal, which i doubt, to boost the team, I don't know. But despite the frailties, the Mets are Hanging on in.

LGM!

Interesting night at the office for the 'Amazins

First we sign Bruce from the Reds (the one year deal, is definitely definitely Yo related) for Nimmo and another prospect.... then it hits a hitch, and It turns into Herrera, and another Pitching prospect i'd never heard of.

Then we relieve (pun intended?) ourselves of Bastardo, which had the potential to be great, but faltered, and get Niese back, which i think is good business, as i thought Niese was actually very good out of the 'Pen in the WS last year, could be what we need for a middle relief.

As for the Yankees, whats going on there?!
