Those Korked shirts are brilliant. (Of course the K's are backwards to signify a strikeout, you get it, it's Baseball things)

Do simple better
Embrace the Target

We, as Blues, should buy in bulk.

Is there a football manager with the outlook of Joe Maddon? That's what this club needs. He's a masterly man manager, and a philosopher of the game. Stay loose, be prepared, and let your talent take over. Think about what Jake Arrieta used to be vs. what he's been the past year and a half. He's right on schedule so far (yes! - great play by Bryant at third) against the Reds tonight.

4/5 90+ win seasons with his Rays teams? Brilliant.

Cubs have the right fella in place to develop what is an outstanding amount of young talent. Shame some other side in Blue and White can't follow that path.

*Shakes fist at sky*

Tonight's game was like some nine-year old kid's fantasy game.

The Cubs beat the Reds 16 - 0 with a Jake Arrieta no-hitter, the first against the Reds since June 23, 1971.

Sixteen. To Nothing. I've been watching baseball a long time, and this is new to me. Cubs are now 12 - 4.

The A's are fine.

Yeah, they may not make the playoffs and they may not win the division but this team is fine.

The pen is way better than last year. Starting pitching is fine, it'll be better when Hahn comes back.

They're better than everyone thinks, less than a 66 win season? Come on, lazy bookies with their over under.

8 - 1 over the Reds last night. And the beat goes on. Lester in command, lineup shreds young Reds pitching, Javi Baez puts on a show.

Oh, here's the pitch count chart for the last fifteen games, courtesy of Theo's Spare Soul out at Bleed Cubbie Blue:

No accident, this.

Three out of four at Cincy. Good series, the Reds are glad to see the Cubs leave.

Reds v rest of league: 8 - 4. Against the Cubs : 1 - 6. (can we play you every week?)

I actually felt a little sorry for Alfredo Simon today. This is twice this year this has happened to him. So far. It's a 162 game season, but it's starting out the right way.

Brew Crew gives up 11 walks, Cubs respond and give seven of their own. Not pretty.

To @Garrick with respect. I've had years like you're about to have. Counsell looks so sad sitting there and watching.

That said... Time to get the broom out.

Out of my 25 years on this godforsaken rock, the Brewers have had 19 losing seasons.

Don't worry, I'm used to it.

Hail Szczur!! El Slammo from Matt the bench guy in the 8th makes a tight one into a laffer. 6 - 1 over the Braves, who showed a promising starter in Aaron Blair, a kid with a nice changeup who even knows when to use it. The rest of the Braves didn't show much today. Cubs now at 17 - 5, Braves at 5 - 18.

More tomorrow afternoon.
