i was telling people cahill for captain before weir got it i thought and still think it would help him not get booked so much
Me too - and when he's fit, I don't care what formation you play, Cahill is a starter every time. I don't buythis "not a box-to-box midfielder" tag he gets from some, I've seen him defending more effectively than Ossie or Pienaar time and again.
But he was still fairly young back then, he's now 27/28 and had a good couple of runs in the premiership. Also when Neville was made captain he did seem ideal for the job, he was commanding players on the field and was generally pretty good.
Since being made captain however his form has dropped, he doesnt command the field anymore and makes empty statements like, "the lads have learned and are gooing to give 100% today" only to see them run around half hearted, himself included.
The natural captain of course is Stubbs, but he doesnt get enough games to really hold the position.
CT as usual I agree with most of what you say especially the defensive talent the lad undoubtedly has. My main concern is his continued fitness problems, he seems to be perpetually injured, whether or not these problems have a longer term physiological effect on him will have to be monitored![]()
what's the latest on Timmy? He's got to be getting close, right?
Cahill with a chance of being ready by the derby..... just the job
*rubs hands eagerly*
