Missing Cahill

cahill garners too many yellow cards to be full time captain. if he was playing in a shirt that provides refereeing immunity then hed be great.

i was telling people cahill for captain before weir got it i thought and still think it would help him not get booked so much

Me too - and when he's fit, I don't care what formation you play, Cahill is a starter every time. I don't buythis "not a box-to-box midfielder" tag he gets from some, I've seen him defending more effectively than Ossie or Pienaar time and again.

CT as usual I agree with most of what you say especially the defensive talent the lad undoubtedly has. My main concern is his continued fitness problems, he seems to be perpetually injured, whether or not these problems have a longer term physiological effect on him will have to be monitored(y)

But he was still fairly young back then, he's now 27/28 and had a good couple of runs in the premiership. Also when Neville was made captain he did seem ideal for the job, he was commanding players on the field and was generally pretty good.

Since being made captain however his form has dropped, he doesnt command the field anymore and makes empty statements like, "the lads have learned and are gooing to give 100% today" only to see them run around half hearted, himself included.

The natural captain of course is Stubbs, but he doesnt get enough games to really hold the position.

yes a few mates said tim was a bit young at the time. also neville played in defence then, i think either phil should stay in defence maybe left back and push baines up to left midfield would be good and might solve the left side problem, im told baines was a midfielder once.

or phil and cars play the holding role not both in the same team tho, then we need a good man along side of him maybe grav at the mo because tim is out but not sure tommy can do it week in week out and defo arteta on the right and then i would play jags at right back and give hibbo a few games in the ressys till he can challenge for the first team

I share your concern about injuries, monty - similar to Vaughan, you just hope they can stop getting injured nd keep their levels up.

Not too sure about cahill's ability to create. Like I say before, he's more like someone who score goals rather than create. I've remember few seasons ago when arteta was injured and he was playing in midfield and we were playing like what we did now, no creativity.

We are a much poorer side without Cahill. If nothing else he seems to get the best out of AJ when they play together. Him, Arteta and Joleon should be the first names on the team sheet imo.

what's the latest on Timmy? He's got to be getting close, right?

Not sure, last time I asked him he hurled verbal abuse at me. Maybe just his way of saying hello though. ;) ;)

ahhh you mean timmy cahill, oops. About 4 weeks tops I hear.
