I've got an email off Hmrc saying I've been fined £100 for not sending a self assessment in on time and can be charged £10 a day for 90 days until i do !!!!
I've never done a self assessment in my life and i took early retirement 6 years ago!!!!
My only income is my state and private pension.

Have you got an account with them ? You can check if it’s genuine, if I remember correctly they never sent emails it was all done by post.

They sent an email to say "you have a new message in your online account"
Nightmare ringing different numbers before i was able to fill a form in online which they text me a link to,
But its just a tick box scenario so you cant give your explanation.

Not minor at all the student loan system is a con my nephew has been paying hundreds a month for 10+ years yet somehow he’s only paid off £3k!!!

….its dreadful, Bridget Philipson was on telly this morning saying they can’t afford to fix it at the moment so I don’t think anything will happen soon.

My kids did 5 years each, fortunately my daughter was just before exorbitant fees kicked but the trouble I had paying off my son’s debt made me determine you couldn’t trust that Student Loans Company.

Vet fees

My dog has been peeing a lot more than usual for a week or so, Mrs took her to our local vet the other day, checked her over, thought it may be an infection somewhere and prescribed antibiotics and a painkiller, all for the princely sum of just under £200.

Had to take her to an emergency vet this morning as she’s now peeing blood, a consultation, an ultrasound, blood test and an x-ray to determine she is full of kidney stones so now has to have an emergency op tomorrow morning…. All for a mere pittance of £2,500.
Luckily we have insurance which covers it but what do people do if they don’t have insurance ?
