Not a good start for Arteta and I wouldn't be encouraged if I was an Arsenal fan at him bringing Steve Round in.

They have taken a huge punt and that is it in a nutshell.

Only results will prove or disprove the wisdom of appointing Arteta, but if it goes wrong, then as we know to our own cost, the ramifications of getting successive appointments wrong can have considerable consequences.

I really think these days Arsenal are little more than a shinier, souped-up Everton. We should absolutely aim not only to compete but overtake them with Ancelotti, and prove ourselves the more attractive option for potential signings.
How things have changed, Arsenal are Everton Lite, not the other way round.
Early days yet for Arteta

But the arsenal fans couldn't wait to get rid of Wenger in the end, and he had run his course with arsenal he was out of date. Arteta will have his own ideas about what he wants and how he wants to play football, and he won't need someone outdated to offer help.

I never really thought Wenger lost it tactically. They always played good football. its just Wenger had no problems selling his best players to rival clubs instead of what the RS and Spurs mostly do, which is ship them out of the prem.

He had a tough time being just a tad bit more pragmatic when it would have suited him. Really he should have won the title the season Leicester did. But when they started acting like consistently being top 4 was easily replaceable they lost the plot. I'd be surprised if Arteta was the solution.

Can't remember the last time we were above Arsenal on New Years' Day.... was either not born or in nappies.

Hilarious.

Logical choice from Arsenal would have been Ancelotti, or even Poch (my Arsenal friend said they didn’t want him though). The only thing Arteta has on Ancelotti is that he knows the club. I’m all for giving inexperienced people a shot but in this particular case, Ancelotti was the no brainer decision for them.

They wont get relegated...but it would be delicious to see them fall to below 15th at the end of the season...

Would put a dampener on any rebuild they will be doing and players will also want to jump ship.

Arsenal look a completely different side today. Had a shape, defensively they were resilient and defended as a team. Pressed intelligently.

Even in the draw at Bournemouth and the defeat vs Chelsea, have a look at AFTV, even their fans recognised a change in playing style even if the points were lacking.

He'll do well there, glad to see it too.
