"mistakes made" "missed opportunities to investigate his abusive behaviour" "came to attention of police on 9 separate occasions" "arrested for rape in 2021 and allowed to continue on duty"

They are calling this the mets darkest day, thats some front, he hasnt kidnapped, raped, murdered, burned the body of, and disposed thereafter of anyone.

Some short term memory these!

the whole organisation needs disbanded, at this point it's obvious the non-deviant, perverts are an anomaly.

I get the 'it is not a murder' part, but I think the real issue is the length of offending, the severity of the crime and the apparent numerous allegations made.

Yet the MET allowed him to continue working and commit these heinous crimes: that makes the scale, and the level of offending, pretty unprecedented.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, can really defend them here, as the alarm bells did go off numerous times and were ignored repeatedly.

And in a state of duality, there were numerous occasions where couzens behaviours and crimes were ignored. It's almost as though those in a uniform aren't that interested in applying the law to others in the same uniform - like the law doesn't actually apply to them.
You watch couzens legal team on this if carrick doesn't get a whole life term.

The police, much like the criminals they are supposed to catch, have something of their own ‘Omerta’ within the ranks.
‘Grassing’ on another copper is very much looked down upon.

The grief the characters get in ‘Line of Duty’ from fellow officers is not too far from the truth of what the actual Standards Depts (or whatever they are called these days) get IRL.

Incidents like this shine a spotlight on how dangerous the culture of silence, protecting their own and ‘keeping it in house’ is within the police and until it is addressed, not much will change, sadly.

Sadly, perhaps shamefully, it’s very unlikely he’ll get life although the statue books allow it. The category range will probably be 20-30 years, if not a little bit more.

I hope I’m wrong by the way - the severity and use of his role might push it up, but time served may fit into the above.
