In the example you've given, excessive force may have been warranted, if there was threat to life of one of the officers.

The excessive force in this recent incident was disgusting. You can clearly see in the video that there was no threat to life or need for an officer to boot the person on the ground in the head. Should never be allowed to wear the uniform again. Scumbag.

I believe in appropriate force when justified but this wasn't justified.

Can more or less state, the person having head kicked in has responded by request to lay flat and arms to side its such unatural posistion to be in when up for a fight. It's the safest posistion to have someone who could be of risk if you can on approach or indeed when leaving them .

The moment the lad was tasered & on the floor, arms by his side, there was no immediate danger to the police officers.

To then boot the lad in the face, is assault & any of us would be in prison for that. He let his emotion take over his training & he’ll correctly be punished.

I can't believe how many people on line are defending the police. Police were probably very angry if their colleagues had been beaten up - but aren't they meant to be trained to stay calm and not act on their emotions.

Some of the comments are simply wrapped up racism - and the likes of Tice will use it to further their ambitions.

I agree that the police need to use more force. People think they can do what ever they want now.. however. This copper needs to be arrested. The stomp on the head could have killed him..

There’s people in this country who want our police to act like Russia, North Korea etc

I’ve got no sympathy for the lads who’ve apparently whacked a female police officer however that doesn’t justify that police officers actions.

Controlled aggression. That’s what they’re trained in. The moment that situation is “under control” they’re trained to match that level. Booting a lad in grid when he’s tasered on the floor gets anyone else jail time.

Give this type of Police thug a gun... What could possibly go wrong.
Thugs are soon found out.

However, these incidents of police overreacting or behaving badly are relatively few and far between.

Armed police would instantly garner more respect from 95% of the public. It would also prevent a lot of incidents happening that we see more and more of.

Most of European police are armed. So why not ours?

'the riots wouldn't have been so bad'

Has anyone actually seen the aftermath of the Leeds riot ? It seems to consist of a single bus being torched and that's it.

Daily Mail had the headline 'LEEDS IN RUBBLE' and then the article had about 20 photos of the same bus from different angles with everything else around it looking fine.

It seems to be following a basic left wing/left leaning on one side vs right leaning/right wing on the other.

The right wingers are generally the ones who see this Officer as the brave hero (even though on the 2 videos i've seen the officers weren't under any serious threat at that moment). And then when you have the racial element added in, it further fuels the right wing justification with their support.

There was a protest in Rochdale last night where the vast majority appear to be Asian and the 2 Police spokespeople i've seen have both had Asian names so it has already become a Racial issue.

Whereas for me the actual issue is that a Police Officer has used inappropriate force in a disgusting way. Sad that it has been manipulated again in to a Racial thing.

It looks so bad I assumed at first glance it was a London Bridge type job or something , not because of the lads ethnicity but because the violence used was so OTT I thought they’d had to have some kind of ‘reason ‘ to take it to that level. If that makes any sense ? The more you watch it , the more footage is released the harder it gets to process .
