Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven


Hi everybody. What a nightmare @Barnfred 55 I too have sibling issues which means we are now only going over to Liverpool on Sunday for the day. The whole point of us going was to see my niece who is over from Australia, go out tomorrow night for a family meal and see her on Sunday as well. They all went out last night and niece is going to see her mates in Formby where they used to live tomorrow. This is in spite of brother assuring me there were plans in place. Still haven't found out why they decided to change the arrangements. Anyway I'm not spending the neck end of £200- by the time you add hotel and petrol together to sit in a hotel room (Dad likes to go to bed really early so it's not like we could talk to him.) I feel a bit sad too if I'm being truthful that they didn't think about waiting for us to be there before they went out.

Moving on from that. I've also had a rubbish day in work. There has been a data breach on one of my referrals, wrong information was sent out. I'm fairly relaxed about at the moment because I've looked at it, my boss has also looked at it and his boss has and we are 100% convinced that it is a system error. However IT are desperately trying to make it a user error because if it is a system error it opens a huge can of worms. So I'm being hassled by all sorts of people about it.

Not a fun day.

Have any of you heard of an American singer called Carly Pearce? Daughter has gone to see her in Manchester tonight. I think she's a country singer.

My daughter played me some tracks from an album of hers. It was all a bit depressing but apparently she wrote it after her husband of 9 months cheated on her and they split up.

I don’t mind a bit of misery, the storytelling is one of the things I like about country music. I’ve been to four “writer’s round” concerts where the performers explain the background to their songs , I find it really interesting.

That's a bummer Anj. I'm half surprised you're still going over to Liverpool. Guess you still want to see your dad. I reckon your niece could be calling the shots here and your brother just covering for her.

I've never really got on with Cal's brother tbh. He had a real big brother attitude towards her which Cal never liked and me even less. But our relationship has been much better since she passed. I'm not going to fall out with him over it because I know Cal wouldn't approve. I should have asked my mate to book it for me in hindsight. He'd have done it without question.

I'm the same. It's all in the lyrics for me. I love knowing the back story of songs. My daughter loves country music. In amongst all the 80s music I subjected them to on the school run I also had one compilation country CD. She loved it and we would sing along to Jolene , Rhinestone Cowboy and Rose Garden. I don't think it's ever left her

Joy Division and Radiohead are 2 of my favourite bands. What can I say. Atmosphere is a classic but is arguably the most depressing song ever recorded.

To be honest I nearly didn't but then I would end up as the bad guy for not making an effort. So a visit on Sunday seemed like a reasonable compromise. And we do have the day off on Monday so driving there and back in one day won't be too bad and we won't have to leave early

Yeah I've got one for you. Macca once danced with Mrs Js oldest sister. If she'd agreed to the suggested knee trembler baby Macca might have been my niece / nephew in law. Does that count?
