Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good afternoon all. I'm still feeling the buzz from yesterday, I know we didn't win but we played so well - best I've watched for ages. It gives me hope. Then I watched Maupay's little message on Instagram and the French accent was a joy. Filled a Digne sized hole in my life.

Your hols look fab @Barnfred 55 I think two of my friends are on your cruise. They keep posting pics of the same places that you are. If you come across Kevin, a gay Welsh man who is holidaying with his life long friend Mary say hi to them lol Kevin is coming on the cruise with us in a few weeks. @Billy Dean I hope you find a dog you can borrow for walks.

Did overtime this morning. That's 42 hours so far in the pay roll period. The cut off date is after next weekend so if I can squeeze another 12 hours in that will be 54 hours done- all on the end of Septembers pay. Holiday spends sorted. The weekend after that we are in Liverpool, my niece and her boyfriend are visiting from Australia. I'm going to the evening of a wedding on Thursday ( the lass whose hen do I went on last month). I still haven't got anything to wear. This is not good. I can see me leaving it until the last minute when I'm off on Wednesday.

Not much planned this week although we are having a Monday night roast dinner tomorrow. (sorry veggie friends!) Was going to do one today but logistics aka daughters social life did not allow it and she really wanted one! I'm just too soft.

I can't say I'm overly excited by the forthcoming leadership results. Rock and a hard place springs to mind. If I had to pick I think I would go for Sunak.

Enjoy your Sunday folks.

I was going to give this a like until you mentioned that back stabbing swine Sunak……

Good mornin all on an overcast day here in Finland .I hope all slept well except that bloody ref we had ,it does look like a bad weekend for them in lots of matches .Some quite obviously biased decisions and I might know why.
I think it is subliminal .They want to find a reason to award a goal for some and they want to to find a reason to not award one for others . THey deliberated so long over seemingly obvious decisions only to come up with the wrong one .

I feel much better looking forward the way the team is playing ,we have some fine players coming through and the two centre backs are alone the evidence that the management team know what they are doing ,they have transformed the way we play and the mindset of the rest of the team .
I know it is unlucky to mention such things but the silly mistakes are almost a memory ,when was the last one ? Have a great day all .COYB

I think I read on here somewhere that Liverpool had the most decisions overturned by VAR. While Kopites cite that as hard done by the real crux of it is that referees are preconditioned to give them an incorrect advantageous decision. Unconscious bias if you will.

It is reported in the news here that Helsinki are thinking of scrapping the Christmas lights this year due to the cost ,it made me think how much does street lighting in a big city cost now ?
Mr google says there are 2.8 million street lights in London and the average £38 per lamp .
I noticed Sunak refuse to rule out electricity blackouts in England in the winter. It’s mad even typing that out.

Morning everyone ,

Big thunderstorms overnight and gave eveywhere a much needed soaking.

Glorious day today - so can catch up on the gardening - but then rain for the rest of the week.

Great to see @Barnfred 55 having a brill time on his jollys - you desereve it mate.

@Gwladysover are your efforts to keep the British seaside industry going single handed coming to an end ?

Well , Evertonians think that they are jinxed. What about Wolves ? Their shiny new striker gets an ACL injury in his first game and the transfer window's closed so they have to turn to ...............Diego Carlos ! Out of contract and on trial this week. Bet he makes Rondon look like Usain Bolt.

Thought Arsenal looked good yesterday ( although they lost to United ) big test for us next weekend.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all on this bright and sunny one. Yesterday was very muggy so no surprise when thunderstorms arrived at two o’clock this morning. The duck race didn’t go too well, there has been so little rain here, consequently the river level is very low and hardly flowing. The ducks had to be helped down the river by canoes and despite cutting the race short, it took absolutely ages. Everyone had a good time though. The main race raised £2000 for MIND and Brain Tumour charity, each duck being sponsored at £1.
@jazzy I think seaside visits have come to an end for the season, we were going to turn our efforts to the Scottish tourist industry but that has been thwarted due to the rail strike. Enjoy the gardening.
Have a good day all.?

Back to the future , what next 3 day weeks ? Remember those in the 70s?
I was at work in the pay office, we had to work all week, no electricity so no heating, we were only allowed home when it became too dark to work. Power cuts were rotated so when our area was cut off, we used to walk to the chip shop up the road as they had the power on. On the plus side no light pollution meant the stars were brilliant.

I've just looked it up.

I would have guessed at 1973 . I was 13 then !

It was actually 73 into 74 and under Ted Heath's government.

Think Truss will be just as woeful as PM to be honest . Ah well "A life on the ocean wave " wasn't that Ted's theme tune ? Dick Emery was good in the 70s though , and Mike Yarwood. Where has that sort of comedy gone ?
