Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Fairly happy with our incomings this window. A good blend of youth and experience. Excited to see our new look midfield along with the resurgent Iwobi.
Would have liked another winger/attacker and for business to have been done a bit earlier, but it is what it is.

. A lot of dog chat recently it seems. I've been doing some research into getting one recently but alas it seems my current life circumstances are not really suitable for it.
I’m in a similar position.
I’d love to get a dog. We always used to keep German Shepherds when I lived at home with my folks. I live alone so a furry friend would be great.

Sadly I work 12 hour shifts (In all weekend as well! ? ) I leave the house at 6am and don’t usually get home ‘til 7.30-8pm and I don’t think it would be fair to leave a dog on its own for that long :(

Hello all. Hope you are all well. I'm OK with the transfer window. A new striker would have been good but they seem to be hard to come by. I'm thinking that Iwobi might play in a umber 10 type role bridging the gap between the striker(s) and the midfield. I see Gomes has gone, that's a shame on the eye candy front and he seemed such a nice person (I told you I'd be a crap manager. It would all be down to impressive hair and if you were an alright person. Jack Grealish would never get in my team)

I have to share my shopping experience this morning. I was in Home Bargain this morning - always buy cat food and cleaning products in there. Way cheaper than Tesco. It wasn't crowded, there was an elderly lady shopping with another person, possibly a relative or maybe a carer. The elderly lady clearly had some form of learning disability. My first encounter was as I was browsing the cat food I heard "Oi, oI, oi" quite loud from the next aisle. the elderly lady had lost her companion who shouted back, from not far away "I'm here" Anyway I get to the check out and the pair are in front of me. It becomes obvious that they are regular customers, the checkout operator greets elderly lady with "Hello Becky, how are you today" Becky has loads of those mini toiletries and is insisting on paying for them one at a time. The checkout operator has the patience of a saint and takes the money for each item, is charming and friendly throughout. When it came to my turn she apologised for the delay. I said I was in no hurry and to be honest her kindness and how lovely she was had made my day. Which it had- restored my faith in human nature.

I'm doing gym and overtime in the morning. I reckon I've times it right to finish by 12.15 so I can watch the match. I have bought beer - Desperados seemed appropriate (also an excellent song by The Eagles)

Glad you're having a good time @Barnfred 55 If you have any "moments" go with them. Don't bottle anything up. I'm sure Cal is om board with you.

Have a great day all x
I had a nice experience in a supermarket during the last world cup.

I went to grab a case of beer for the match, can't remember who was playing, and the guy in front of me at the till realised he lifted the wrong item so off he went through the shop to find what he needed and returned 5 minutes later. Wasn't an issue with me.

He apologised and asked was i getting a drink for the football and i replied he was. He lifted his shopping and walked away and as i went to take out my card to pay for my beer he shouted back "Sorry for making you miss the first 5 minutes of the game, enjoy the beers on me".

Completely took me back and from then when i worked in the community i always encouraged social action projects that involved random acts of kindness. Such a small unexpected gesture can have a big impact.

I can't remember who said it on here a couple of weeks ago that we need to remember that the world is full of good decent people. I think sometimes that gets lost in all the bad things we hear about. My checkout lady was definitely one of the good folk.
A checkout job is one in which a chatty and patient demeanour is a must. Can’t be easy keeping your game face on for the whole shift though.

Yeah same for me mate. I work from home a couple of days a week but I'm in the office 3 days a week and gone for about 10 hours on those days. I think it could be doable under some circumstances (for example with an older dog and getting a dog walker in to break up the day) but still quite difficult and probably still not really fair for the dog. Would love to have one one day though. My Mum had a German Shepherd when I was a kid. He was bonkers but brilliant.

Great checkout stories @anjelikaferrett and @IrishBlue2022 warms the cockles. You’re right @Armaghtoffee sometimes on the checkout you need the patience of a saint. I used to do Christmas temping when my kids were small. The first year I did it I got a job in Littlewoods and was put on the cheese counter. Cutting the cheese off the block was an absolute nightmare and I used to dread it. We had one regular customer who wanted 4 ounces of cheese exactly, she would make you cut it again if it wasn’t right. Dreadful woman, so rude and treated us like dirt. But as our supervisor used to say they can’t sack you for what you’re thinking. I got a job in WH Smith the next Christmas though. lol

German Shepherds are great, we had one when I was a kid too. My Dad had a habit of putting his mug of tea down the side of his armchair and the dog would sneak up and drink it. Dad would pick the mug up to find it empty “That bl**dy dogs had my tea again, he’ll have to go”. He loved him really.lol

I had an Irish Border Collie, got her from family in Ireland. Bloody gorgeous dog.

Chased her into several neighbours gardens. As intelligent as she was, Broadgreen was no place for a girl like her.
We ended up giving her away as despite being 5 minutes from Court Hey Park and taking her out twice a day you just couldn't expel her energy.

Photos on my old laptop but basically the spit.

You think that's nice, when I worked on the Asda tills at Christmas, i used to put through half their booze without scanning if they were friendly to me lol

If they were rude, I scanned the same thing through twice so it evened out

I worked in Burger King when I was going through college, one extremely irate customer came in and called me a thief because her daughter never got a toy with her meal despite the fact I never even served her.

Apparently me losing my head a bit and saying "is your arse jealous of the poop that comes out of your mouth" wasn't becoming of an employee of Burger King on East Prescot Road and I was duly dismissed for 2 weeks.

That's the woke culture for you!
