Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

My new neighbours, (retired dentist from Cheshire) have recently finished their redevelopment of the house they bought next door. Total cost, (plot plus build) must be north of £1m. Its a very impressive project, oak frame, wood everywhere, but I think its a bit crap, and the finish is a bit compromised by some pretty crap finishes to some details. But hey, its their money, their choice.

But. Took the bin out just now, and I lol 'd. Forgot a washing line/airer, and a dozen shirts are hanging on the gutter to air!
Reminds me of my wife’s one brother.. rebuilding their home.. taken about 4 years to do it.. costing a mint with only the most expensive finishes. Cinema room, massive bar and entertainment area with jacuzzi and sauna and more and more… but it’s as just gaudy as anything. I can do my best to appreciate their artistic flair but my wife (maybe cos she’s Irish) just can’t hide her dislike for it… maybe we not cool or edgy enough for it..

Good evening lovelies.

I’ve absolutely enjoy reading the variety of topics that have been discussed the past two days, as always Karl’s coffee/tea house offers plenty of entertainment for those who visit it.

Having a busy weeks at work. i got a very good connection within the Latinx community for outreach opportunity so this week I’ve been attending these free food community markets that one of the local food banks is running and I have been able to interact with a lot of people, many low income immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. So all this eeek I’ve been interacting with them and informing them about the free English classes our college offers and other courses and services. It really makes me happy working with this segment of the community, for obvious reasons, but they are also such nice humble just good people. I brought some stuff that I usually give away at events and the kids were the happiest playing with some of the items I gave them. Here are some pics from one of the events. Tomorrow Im also receiving the final training so I can begin attending jail and helping some women inmates with enrollment. Im absolutely loving what I’m doing, I really feel like I’m making a difference :)

Cheers Blues. I hope everyone has a beautiful and cool Thursday ?

If that’s the strawberry how big is the pot of cream? lol

Morning all, another bright and sunny day here. The grass has turned brown and the trees are so dry some are starting to shed their leaves. We desperately need some rain but none forecast for at least a week. I think that when it does rain the ground will be so hard it will just run away and not soak in. Thanks everyone for the advice regarding the funeral, You are right I would feel bad if we didn’t attend and it’s the least we can do. @Sassy Colombian my birthday is on the 25th and as to its significance let’s just say that the Queen is not the only one celebrating a Platinum Jubilee this year.;). @Terrarian hope you and Daisy Beagle are okay, have missed you recently. Have a good day everyone.?

I do hope you are not suggesting that the Irish lack artistic flair BB?

We're ok thanks plodding along, trying to find information on my mental deficiencies lol

G they need to nip that bullying in the bud, a big part of what is wrong with me is due to bullying and being beaten up regular, made me very mistrustful of others but I must have had these conditions then, as I can't help but react to things even if the other person is Tyson Fury, doesn't always end well and as an adult has caused my life to stagnate and go backwards.

Not up to much playing minecraft too much lol

have a good day all.

You're the only poster I know who can make a heart numbing post and end it with a laughing emoji T. Whatever your mental issues may be, a fantastic attitude certainly isn't one of them.

Apart from that, good to hear that you and Daisy are seemingly OK. Or "plodding along" as you like to say.

Morning all. Sunny but windy here so cooler than it has been recently. @Terrarian nice to hear from you. Update on our missing neighbour. His partner knocked at our door last night to apologise for the police always coming to the wrong house. The addresses are quite confusing. We live at the end of a terrace of six houses but each set of two houses have their own address! So we live at 2 X Buildings and she lives at 2 Y Buildings. Anyway she then told us the story. He is alive. She told us that his whole life has been a lie. He hadn't been working at Amazon, he's lied about jobs, qualifications, everything. He contacted her and said he is sleeping rough in London but she sent a friend to see if he was where he said he was. Friend went around 6am and he wasn't there. He's told lies about his family and she said it now makes sense why she never met any of his friends. They had been together for 11 years! He told her his Mum and Dad split up and never met anyone else. He nursed his mother through cancer on his own. All lies. Both parents remarried, he wasn't on his own. He also did the same thing to a previous partner years ago. Just disappeared. She said he told her there was a problem with his pay at Amazon which was why he didn't get any and in a previous job he had, working from home, told her the company went bust and he was owed loads of money. She now doesn't believe him. Also told her he was a psychologist and had a degree in psychology. Not true. She met him when he was homeless. She was working as a crisis nurse. Not sure if he was working there too but she said he told everyone he was a psychologist who had worked in a prison with sex offenders. The working in a prison was true but he was an admin clerk doing data input. She has found all of this out since he went missing. She said when they met she was asking his advice because some of her patients were victims of sex offences. She's moving out soon. Going to live with a friend in Devon and then buy a place when the sale of the house in Berwick goes through. She also said that she is very conflicted because she can't wipe away the 11 years they had but would never trust him again.

It's like an episode of Hollyoaks but I feel so sorry for her. She's recovering from breast cancer.

I'm having a little barbie later just for myself. A burger and a couple of sausages with a couple of rolls I have left over. Maybe a tomato and onion salad to go with it. But I also have some strawberries and you've given me an idea for a dessert. Maybe soak them in a bit of liquer and bake them in tinfoil on the barbie. Never tried it before but reckon I'll give it a go.

But mention of strawberry sauce reminded me of a night out In Barcelona quite a few years back. We were on a cruise and it was an overnight stay on what happened to be our anniversary. Cal had set her heart on finding an Indian restaurant, with hindsight not the best idea in Barcelona back then. Eventually we found one in the back of beyond, but when we sat down to order we realised it was vegetarian. Whilst we enjoy our veggie side dishes we didn't fancy a complete veggie meal.

Cal got a bit upset at the way the evening panned out given it was our anniversary, but we ended up in some posh grill restaurant on a terrace overlooking The Ramblas. It was a beautifully warm evening. I fancied the Iberian pork, which is probably the best pork in the world IMO as they roam wild and feed on mainly acorns and chestnuts. It came with a "strawberry sauce" which I imagined would be like a strawberry infused jus, which I thought would go quite well with the pork. When it came it looked like a dollop of Angel Delight had been plastered on top of my pork steak. It looked disgusting and tasted worse and I ended up scraping it off. Anyway, Cal's mood changed instantly and she laughed so much she nearly fell off her chair. It was quite funny actually and it was worth it just to see Cal cheer up.

About the best I can say to that is at least he isn't dead.

Feel sorry for your neighbour though. Amazing how he can keep up the lies for 11 years. He needs help really, but the way he has treated your neighbour it's very difficult to have any sympathy for him.
