Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Well blood tests the morning failed to dampen my joy when at long last I got the quad bike running perfectly .It is a funny feeling of what next now for me ! Seriously I have other small bits like checking the brake pads etc. that there was no point in doing when it wouldn't get to the garden gate and back .Now I have ten litres of petrol and a willing heart .
I hope all are well and have a great afternoon COYB

If you told me that was taken from a ship I would believe it @anjelikaferrett
I've taken dozens of pictures like that at sea. Some great sunsets too. and some incredible electric storms. Not too many sunrises funnily enough. Truly one of the great pleasures of cruising.

Have you ever come across a Manchester based band called Maruja mate. They've been around a while dropping EPs and building a loyal fan base through their live shows. They released their debut full album last month and I'd recommend you give it a listen. It may not be for you. They are sort of a jazz/punk/rap fusion and when I first listened to their album I was put off by the shouty rap vocals. But there was something about the musicality that was calling out to me so I persevered and it's really growing on me now. The sax and drums are exhilarating at times.;)

I have never been convinced on whether I would enjoy a cruise or not. They do seem rather hoighty toighty at times but no doubt that’s my own misconception.

Never heard of Maruja. I will give them a go.

Blondeshell has been my morning listening today.

Sounds up my street that, Fred, so hope you don't mind that I've jumped on your recommendation. The description brought to mind Dust Junkys from the Manchester scene in the 90s. Hadn't thought about/listened to them in an age so I've cued them up for the drive home, and all!!

Cruises aren't as formal as they used to be mate. You may be surprised. Try a week long Med cruise with somebody like Royal Caribbean who are very family focused. If you're not fussed it's only 7 days.

I like Blondshell. Quite enjoyed her latest album released earlier this year but haven't listened to it since for some reason. You jogged my memory.

Don't know them at all Brett but I'll give them a listen. Let me know how you get on with Maruja. It can ve a difficult listen as some if the vocals are quite aggressive, but it's a grower.

Today we had a walk (7 mile round trip no less) to Lakki to visit the war museum. It was so worth it - even if the museum ( in a continuing pattern of this holiday) was up a hill. I'll have calf muscles like Jack Grealish by the time I get home! Unsurprisingly and in keeping with Leros generally, the harbour is beautiful. The museum is situated in two, of many, tunnels built on the island by Italians to store munitions and also keep themselves safe. Most of the exhibits are from local donations - only 10% provided by the Greek Government Many of them are German and Italian items - which is interesting. We were happily in one of the tunnels when all the lights went off- we actually thought it was part of the experience but no, the two ladies- one Greek, one Australian- who were staffing the site came rushing down the tunnel with their phone lights on 'Are you alright? Everybody OK?' There had been a power cut. We assured them we were fine and continued by torch light. It is a very powerful place to be.
Here's a few pics of the harbour, the memorial to HMS Intrepid that was sunk by German bombers in said harbour, the museum and last night's moon photo from a different taverna. 1000011906.webp1000011903.webp1000011910.webp1000011911.webp1000011919.webpbc2a0ea8-e279-4184-a500-bd1138646561-1_all_8295.webp

Maruja are exactly how you described them 😀. I started off on Saoirse (as you would expect) and dipped into a few tracks after. Don’t think they are for me but still listenable. I see they play Belfast next week funny enough, in a spot I used to love a sneaky lunchtime pint in.

That line made me chuckle. You my good man are always looking around for the next thing to turn your hand to doing.

Thanks AT ,what I meant it has been an ongoing project for 4 years and more ,now with it running fine it is weird .Sure I will keep busy but it has been a constant source of frustration .A bit like us being safe from relegation would be ,we are happy but missing the worry .

I can understand that to an extent. I watched the Doucoure goal today and still get goosebumps but yet had we not gone through the emotional wringer then it wouldn’t have meant as much. Did that goal cancel out the constant fretting over result permutations? Maybe, maybe not.

In a work sense I definitely appreciate your logic. Your total investment in something over a period of time can’t just be switched off in an instant. Although, if you can’t find that off switch then you’ll never be fully invested in the next thing, nor get the emotional rewards of it.

On reading that back, I could have just said ‘work burnout’ and saved on my word count 😗

Good morning all on this wet one here .I hope all are well and had a good night .
Out on the quad first chance I get to warm up the engine and then check out the gear change ,it is hard to locate first gear but pulls away easy in second .I won't be off roading through the forest so don't need first really but I want to fix it .On the web it says it is more than likely a bent bar in the linkage or some rubber bush worn .It is only 250cc but it is quite fast and the steering being so prompt it feels weird turning compared to a car which turns like a boat in comparison.
I must buy a helmet ! I was going to use my ski helmet as it is the same sort of impact -hopefully not -but I want a visor knowing that flies in my teeth would annoy me .
Have a great day all COYB

Morning all, where has this week gone? It’s a gloomy old Friday here in the north west and I’ll be in an online meeting in a bit so not much fun this morning. I know what you mean @Gwladysover last weekend was brilliant and it always surprises me just how much 3 points can make the world a better place.
Major excitement tomorrow as I’m going to an audience with Duncan Ferguson in Liverpool! Not sure what to expect tbh and I’m wondering if it will be any different to the content of his book. Still whatever he says is immaterial and I’m sure I’ll just enjoy being there 💙
Have a great Friday and weekend everyone
