You mean the ones crashing against the rocks?.Beautiful. I can almost hear the waves while looking at it.

Cal would have loved that. The one book she kept on going back to was The Other Boleyn Girl. But she had all her books and bought the hard back versions as soon as they came out.I love Phillipa Gregory too, I’ve just finished reading her latest book Normal Women. I got it last Christmas but have only just been able to read it due to a certain High Street optician messing up my glasses. It’s a history of women over the last 900 years, fascinating but at times enough to make your blood boil.
Not sure I ever spend cash, apart from paying my rent.Cash is on the way out. Im not easy with that. I got the train from Newry to Belfast today for brief work meeting then lunch. ‘Working lunch’ as they can’t really talk shop in an open environment but I get it, sussing me out and all that. Very pleasant actually but, you were waiting for the but!
At Newry I was encouraged to use the ticket vending machine despite the lad at the desk who could sell me a ticket.
At Grand Central station in Belfast, the staff were showing people how to scan their ticket on exit rather than a person actually greet you and take your ticket in their hand.
In the restaurant, while buying the first drink on arrival, the barman brought me the machine and appeared surprised I had cash. ‘Oh you are paying cash’ he said in a raised pitch, the hint of surprise in his tone.
The day I get this at home in my local then I will admit I have had my day![]()
). They remind me a lot of Pale Waves.Good to see you're still exercising your brain at our age Pete.Morning guys, I had a busy day yesterday and another is on the cards today. Stood in for one of the domino players last night and after two hours of very close games came away having won £1. I might treat myself to a packet of crisps….![]()

Seeing as you're a fan of Pale Waves, give this young lady a check out AT, especially her latest EP released a couple of weeks ago. Nieve Ella. Probably my favourite listen at the moment (Yes I know Jazzy). They remind me a lot of Pale Waves.
Thank you, I hope so too. Still struggling with the this coin problem though. So sorry to hear the news let us all hope it is something that is the end of it .
Only unsalted for thrupence .What happened to them ? A mars bar was the same price .Oh I am old !
Name two coins in the old money that add up to fourpence and one is not a threepenny bit ?
It is a trick I am sorry ,one isn't but the other isn't !Thank you, I hope so too. Still struggling with the this coin problem though.
Not sure about that mate. Most places here don't want cash tbh.Great shout! Really enjoyed the track and will delve a little deeper over the weekend.
Cash is King remember. All your local shops want cash and not cards.

Anyway, this ones my fave off the EP. Enjoy.
As somebody who worked in business banking for many years I can assure you that they hated the Banks cash handling charges even more. Card fees are much cheaper mate. Or at least they were 10 year ago. And what they pay in fees will probably be largely offset by lower insurance costs of not having to store/carry large amounts of cash. It's also much quicker and simpler to transact than cash. If they truly resent card fees then it's probably because they either weren't about when cash was king, or they've conveniently forgotten. Cheques and cheque cards were also a pain the arse for everyone plus they took best part of a week to clear.I had an afternoon on the beer yesterday in between 2 shop owners and both really resent credit/debit card charges. That was where I was coming from. Every penny counts these days.

Without being too cynical AT, what they really hate is that everything has to go through the books these days and they aren't able to skim off the cash like they used to.![]()
Was that during covid or somenthing?I had an afternoon on the beer yesterday in between 2 shop owners and both really resent credit/debit card charges. That was where I was coming from. Every penny counts these days.
