Cal would have loved that. The one book she kept on going back to was The Other Boleyn Girl. But she had all her books and bought the hard back versions as soon as they came out.

At Grand Central station in Belfast, the staff were showing people how to scan their ticket on exit rather than a person actually greet you and take your ticket in their hand.

In the restaurant, while buying the first drink on arrival, the barman brought me the machine and appeared surprised I had cash. ‘Oh you are paying cash’ he said in a raised pitch, the hint of surprise in his tone.

The day I get this at home in my local then I will admit I have had my day 😀

Not sure I ever spend cash, apart from paying my rent. :lol:

Seeing as you're a fan of Pale Waves, give this young lady a check out AT, especially her latest EP released a couple of weeks ago. Nieve Ella. Probably my favourite listen at the moment (Yes I know Jazzy :)). They remind me a lot of Pale Waves.

Great shout! Really enjoyed the track and will delve a little deeper over the weekend.

Cash is King remember. All your local shops want cash and not cards.

As somebody who worked in business banking for many years I can assure you that they hated the Banks cash handling charges even more. Card fees are much cheaper mate. Or at least they were 10 year ago. And what they pay in fees will probably be largely offset by lower insurance costs of not having to store/carry large amounts of cash. It's also much quicker and simpler to transact than cash. If they truly resent card fees then it's probably because they either weren't about when cash was king, or they've conveniently forgotten. Cheques and cheque cards were also a pain the arse for everyone plus they took best part of a week to clear.

Without being too cynical AT, what they really hate is that everything has to go through the books these days and they aren't able to skim off the cash like they used to. :)

Very well explained.

Of course they all skimmed off the top but I have a very liberal attitude towards thumbing your nose to the Exchequer 😉
