Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good evening all. I hope you are well. I get the two coins @blue1948 . Very sneaky!🤣 I hope MIL is OK @Gwladysover and the op sorts everything out.
I'm away to Liverpool tomorrow for a meet up with my cousins on Mum's side. We're going to a restaurant on Hanover Street. I can't remember the name but it looks nice. Im staying over so no doubt much alcohol will be consumed. I am looking forward to it. On Sunday I'm hoping to catch up with one of my Dad's side cousins.
Work was a
grim today. I ended up reading a police report that I wish I hadn't. My current team get first dibs on all the work as it comes in and we are supposed to filter out all the referrals that won't go anywhere and close them down. We then pass the other stuff on for further consideration. But of course to make that call, you have to read everything. It was probably only the third time I have felt like that about a case. I took a time out, phoned one of my workmates and talked about our next pie and chips day, his newly born granddaughter and I felt much better.
No Everton this weekend- so we can all chill and relax! Have a good one folks.
PS To add to the the cash/ card debate, I paid for petrol with my phone yesterday. I've never paid for anything by that method before. I'm proper down with the kids!🤣🤣

Mark Rylance is excellent in it.

Little known fact, they shot a lot of the exterior work of Wolf Hall at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. An old haunting ground of ours. The whole village is owned by the National Trust and is one of the loveliest places in the UK. They use the village as the setting for many period dramas. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.
Thanks for that I’ll definitely put it on my list

Morning all, interesting discussion about cash v card. Yesterday I was in Skipton and some of the independent shops were offering 10% discount for cash payments.
It is so much easier with Apple Pay on my phone, though I hold a deep rooted suspicion about being controlled by technology, especially this Alexa - I swear it listens to everything.

Every so often during a conversation our Alexa pipes up with a bewildering contribution , saying “ Alexa shut up “ doesn’t work , you have to be firm with her. I’d pursue this further but I don’t have the time or the inclination, although I believe “ Conspiracy Theorists” are highly sought after by the new Trump administration and the jobs pay well.

I'm really not into conspiracy theories ( unless you count aliens , loch Ness monster and anti Everton 😆) but I refuse to have Alexa or a anything smart in the house - apart from Mrs J!

Does the phone , TV and computer count?

I only use our Alexa for the odd playing of music when I’m reminded about a favourite record from the past , it’s excellent for that …eg . “ Alexa play Bod Dylan’s “ Idiot Wind “ “ when Trump said something particularly daft “ you’re an Idiot babe, it’s a wonder that you still know how to breathe “.

Sorry if that came across all schoolmistressy , but bank charges for small businesses has always been a point of issue and probably justifiably so in many cases. Cash was/is definitely more expensive for them though.

And the time taken. Cash has to be counted and must line up with the end of day till report both for cash to go the bank and the standard till balance. Card transaction totals by day always line up unless of staff finger trouble. As you say, Card transactions go through the same day, apart from weekends. As I said though we found a huge difference in charges between our previous card company and our current one.
