Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, another gloomy day, yesterday’s fog has now turned to rain. Hope all is well with @fandjango and @Terrarian. Glad you are feeling better @Armaghtoffee, take it easy but by the sound of it you don’t have much choice. Enjoying a cup of tea in bed at 6.30 and received a call from grandchild no. 3 who was making a card for her gt grandparents wedding anniversary. She wanted to know long they had been married, so could I look it up for her on the internet, sometimes FaceTime can be a wonderful thing, other times it’s a pain in the rear end. lol. It is 65 years by the way.
Have a good day, all.?
Am I reading this correctly H? Have your parents been married 65 years?

They are my son-in-laws’ grandparents. My were parents were married for 33 years when my Dad died, my Mum’s parents had a long marriage though - 66 years.
I had a punchline about pillaging lined up there but doesn't seem appropriate now. Your dad died when you were quite young then. Cal's dad died when she was 39 and i don't think she ever really got over it.

Not sure exactly how long my parents were married for, maybe 63 or 64. I know my dad had a serious stroke just before their 60th. They planned to renew their wedding vows and because my dad was in hospital the vicar agreed to do the celebration there which was nice of her. The hospital (Broadgreen) were great too and allowed us to use a reception room and about 60 turned up.

Looks like Frank has dodged the chop this time around. I would love to see it work out for him.

It’s strange that we won’t see Everton play until Boxing Day. I must say though, the games being on Amazon is great as it does make a nice focal I point for the day.

Best start gathering the Christmas deccies and get the batteries ordered but nothing is going up before 1st Dec (promise).

Got Tesco sorted for 23rd Dec which I’m well pleased with- can’t be bothered with the supermarkets then.

Are mince pies on sale yet? I'll be back in the UK at the weekend so might take the chance to gorge on some if I can.

Had that dreaded call that us of an age fear the other day. "Mum has had a fall". Thankfully, just a minor fracture of her wrist. In a sling, but she is a healthy, stoic scouse Mum.

After looking out for Nik, where my mantra to her was "we have all the time in the world, dont push things, patience", (she was built of similar steel that Mum is), repeating that to Mum seems to have dawned on her. Or as Nik and I always said; "Rules? There are NO rules). Spent a few days getting her a ship load of paracetemol and made sure she has a full fridge and freezer, bless her.

That said, she is off to a mates house this evening for supper! 87.

Good on her heading out to her mate’s. Scouse Mums appear to be legendary.

They just have sommet. Mates hubby is picking her up about now. He will take her back to her new flat later, and Mum will have a lovely evening.

The view across the Severn River is spectacular, I could literally spend hours just watching the ebb and flow, and the big ships coming and going. She loves it.

Not that old I was 32 when he died, he was 56. Really lovely gesture by the hospital for your parents.

The joy of just gazing out at water is a real innate human pleasure. I often wonder where it comes from.

There is a theory, in the spiritual world, that being close to water has a healing/peaceful property.

Without knowing that, every day for a few weeks after Nik left us, I would be drawn to walk round the Marina, chatting to her, and it always made me feel calmer, or sommet.
