Sorry to hear that Anj. Dialysis will be a big upheaval for him.Morning folks. It's Wednesday. Non working day. Was going to do some gardening but it's raining. Unfortunately Dad was taken into hospital yesterday. He became very breathless and was struggling to breathe. Apparently it is all to do with his kidneys. He needs to start dialysis asap. He has been very reluctant to take that step but will have to. He can't have visitors yet, as of last night he still hadn't been put on a ward so no point in me going to Liverpool just yet until we get more information. In spite of Mr Rees Moggs thoughts, Thank the Lord for home working. Means I can just decamp to Liverpool and still work if needs be. Couldn’t do that if I was office based!
It will. He was going to have it at home initially but then said he didn't want the mess. Hospital would be three times a week but he wants to drive there and back to Broad Green. We don't want him to because you don't know how it affects you afterwards. He won't entertain the patient transport bus. Waste of taxpayers money! My feeling is the real reason is that he doesn't want to interact with strangers or make small talk. There's a possibility he could get a taxi funded but that surely, to use his argument, a bigger waste of taxpayers money. lol I think patient transport is a perfectly legitimate use of taxpayers money. How he and my Mum produced a leftie Socialist Trade Unionist daughter is beyond me!Sorry to hear that Anj. Dialysis will be a big upheaval for him.
My Mum had to have dialysis for the last year of her life. She was 85 and found the whole thing tough going. She used hospital transport and through that managed to meet a couple of people going through the same thing. She found that a great help. ( She was a widow so, aside from me, she had no one else.)It will. He was going to have it at home initially but then said he didn't want the mess. Thanks for that. He's 85 in August. He's a very quiet person, my Mum was very much the social butterfly in the marriage. I sometimes think he has autistic traits, very task focused organisational skills off the charts, rigid schedules that cannot be deviated from and he hates chit chat. I know it would be very hard for him to engage with other people he doesn't know. But you are right. He needs to stop fighting against it.My Mum had to have dialysis for the last year of her life. Hope your Dad finds it as good as it can be. Stopping fighting against it is always a big step in the right direction.
Thanks, Anj and Jazzy, I have asked for the same Dr, my sis said mention Fibromyalgia as she has it. I won't stop because it is affecting my quality of life.Does your local hospital have a pain management dept?
One of the best players in our TT league is head of the Pain Management Dept in the Royal and he was telling me how non specialist Dr's can often overlook the answer to regulating levels of pain
It really is quite a specialist area. See if you can get referral
That was supposed to quote in above post lolMore tests required. They are not looking for the right things. Blood tests cannot detect pain. I represented somebody in work who had severe chronic pain. Nothing ever showed up, her sick record was awful and because there was no diagnosis Occupational Health was less than helpful. My member felt like they were going bonkers. They were eventually referred to a specialist pain clinic which helped to manage the pain to a level that was liveable with.
Also most blood tests have a range of what is normal. So saying everything is OK or they have found nothing could be a bit vague. It may not be normal for you. Rheumatoid arthritis is notorious for giving "normal" blood results - 20% of cases. ( Learned that from the person above)
Keep at them. Ask to speak to the same doctor who you liked and for a copy of your results. Most of all don't give up on yourself. Sending positivity and soft hugs x
Thinking back to some of my members I have represented over poor attendance, one who also had undiagnosed pain was told by his pain doctor that they were going to treat the symptoms rather than look for the cause. It seemed to help him. Thanks, Anj and Jazzy, I have asked for the same Dr, my sis said mention Fibromyalgia as she has it. I won't stop because it is affecting my quality of life.
I go to the pain clinic in either Westmorland hospital or Lancaster hospital Jazz but after my consultation a few years ago, he concentrated on the headaches and not the neck pain although he gives me trigger point injections they seem like an after thought and I have to make sure I get them.
