Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, sun is shining at the moment, don’t want to spoil things by getting all political but our local election result made me smile. The Reform candidate in our ward polled 666 votes.
Have a good day, all.💙
That cheered me up as the rest of the results over there are looking pretty grim.

Speaking of grim, just heard Farage refer to St Helen’s as being in Merseyside- surely not?

The highlight of my day today? I bought new sunglasses but have yet to book any venture to foreign climes. Need to get something booked soon.

To continue on our recent train related theme is the news of new investment into our network. In a nutshell, shiny new trains by 2028 but most importantly, 16 trains each way between Dublin and Belfast. At the minute it’s 14 but up until 18 months ago it was about 8. This is all part of the Shared Island investment programme from Dublin i.e preparing for Irish Unification now before the vote happens. With SNP and Plaid showing well today, we live in interesting times.

Only home and just catching the end of the David Attenborough concert. What an inspiration he is to us all. On this generational spanning thread we all grew up with bringing our world to life. God bless him.
I did hear he has a lackey watching sometimes for days before he rolls up to take the shot but that is life I suppose . Yes he did bring things into the living room that we couldn't ever have seen .
I was shocked when I opened the UK news last night ,a change is a comin' :-
by one of the greatest soul singers who was taken way too soon

They were partying all night in our area as we have had corrupt Labour councils for years and now they all gone. I'm not political so welcome any new phase

Morning everyone.

We had a fab couple of days in town.

Seems a bit mad staying over when we live 40 minutes away but there were reasons and it was fun.

So, we booked into A Hard Days Night hotel on North John St. For those of you not intimately familiar with the city centre it's close to Liverpool One and 10 minutes walk to Albert Dock.

The hotel is great and I'm happy to recommend it provided that you aren't a light sleeper. No problem with rowdy guests just that you hear the rumble of Merseyrail trains underneath the hotel and I was woken when they start up at 6am or so. Mrs J slept like a log - as she should do in that hotel having been working like a dog 😂.

The reason we stayed over was to go to the Paul Simon gig at the M&S Bank Arena and we didn't want to risk having to leave early and miss the encore.

The gig was stunning . I've seen some people complain on social media but FFS he is 84 and deaf in one ear and the concert was called A Quiet Celebration, what the hell did they expect ? Paul banging out S&G numbers for 3 hours? Anyway both me and Mrs J who unlike me isn't a massive fan loved it even though his voice was frail. The vulnerability of his voice gave a depth and poignancy to the songs that he carefully chose to suit his situation.

Prior to the gig we had a meal at Maray in Albert Dock and I can thoroughly recommend it especially for veggies like me and @Gwladysover

Yesterday I resumed my walking tour for the benefit of Mrs J. She's a Scouser but wasn't sure if she had ever been to Mathew St ! Sacre bleu ! As she said ..."I only came into town for meetings in Sir Thomas St and then walk up to Bold St to Mattas" 😂.

Anyway we had a lovely walk and then an even better lunch in the Ivy on Castle St. The Heritage menu is amazing value at £21 for 2 courses and it's beautiful in there a real treat . The service is spot on . All Scousers , nothing aloof or patronizing but professional, respectful , and fun . Perfect.

Then the train home and a kip.

All in all a lovely treat.

It is amazing to see from afar .I am not political if fact I hate them all as they are not in it for the "people " they are in the main grabbing egotists ,ne'ertheless it has set the press on fire and will be an interesting watch in particular Wales as they have a coalition opportunity if the seats are correct that we are seeing .

Sounds perfect

Today I have been at a baby shower - the twist being that the baby was also there! She wasn't due until 1 May but was born on 27 March. She is absolutely gorgeous and so tiny. She was 3lbs when she was born and now weighs nearly 5lbs. So ot was more of a baby welcome shower. She is the granddaughter of an old Land Registry workmate. Charlotte and Frankie came as well. Frankie was very jealous when I had hold of the new baby - he cried actual tears!
Tomorrow we are supposed to going to the women's one day International at Durham- England v New Zealand. The weather has been awful so I'm not hopeful this will happen.
Have a good day all
