Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, bit cloudy but at least it’s dry and mild. Our Christmas tree has finally given up the ghost. I’ve forgotten just how old it is but must be at least 25 years old as it was bought when both our children still lived at home. Took it out the box and the “needles” just fell off the branches leaving twisted bare wire. I was gutted. A journey to find a replacement was fruitless. The garden centre was packed, never seen it so busy, and out of Christmas trees in the size we needed, retail park likewise, packed and tree less. I decided to not bother having one, couldn’t face the thought of trailing round to find everywhere was out of stock and at least it would save taking it down and packing it all away in the New Year. Then by coincidence got a phone call from grandkids asking if I was putting up our tree. Realised I was being a joyless old git so have managed to get one online, hope it’s as good as the pictures when it arrives.
Have a good day, all.💙

Morning all. I’m still recovering from Saturday’s 5 mile cross country at Gordonstoun , or as King Charles called it “ Colditz in Kilts” . I’ve got neural/back/ sciatic issues at the moment, I basically wake up with a really achy and stiff back every morning which eases , doesn’t go away and affects my hamstring. So the running was always going to be grim, and as it was a Championship event it was a small field of dedicated runners. I knew I’d be last , so I donned my Santa hat with flashing lights and poddled around with a smile on my face 🙂. It was a fine day though and a chance to chat to good people I hadn’t seen for a long time .

Great stuff, you’re never too old a git to have a tree at Christmas 🙂. I put ours up Friday afternoon, disappeared Saturday ( see above post) and returned home to find the Artistic Director had it fully lit up, baubles everywhere and looking very Christmassy. The hardest job of the year is taking it down and getting the two halves up into the loft.

Wow that is some achievement, well done!

Hello all. I hope you are all OK. Any luck finding your bracelet @Gwladysover ? Good luck with the op @Ducans elbow . We still haven't got our tree up - Wednesday is the chosen day.
I've just realised, now December is here, that it is less than 2 months until we go to Australia. Today I applied for our visas - which are free. They arrived electronically in about 3 minutes!
I'm out with my team mates for tea on Wednesday night. I'll be driving so no alcohol.
Enjoy the rest of your night

No luck with the bracelet unfortunately. The garden centre did a search of the restaurant which is where I’m pretty certain it was lost when I took my coat off and found nothing. I just hope it brings joy to whoever found it, it might have been someone who was having a rotten day and needed a bit of good fortune.

Some unexpected early news, we ended up having our baby boy a few days earlier than the planned c section. I was about to cook a roast, and 4 hours later my gf had a c section and there he was. Everyone is well
Hope you weren’t stuck in the hospital car park traffic jam today. My daughter’s in laws were there for over two hours trying to get out.

I did! It was a nightmare, we got discharged at 9pm on Sunday, but my gf's pain killers weren't ready so I thought I'd pick them up the next day seeing as we live around the corner in Longthorpe. I was there for around two hours too. I hope they didn't miss anything

The midwives were saying how all of their shifts messed up because of it. It was all down to the temporary traffic lights as someone drove into the permanent ones.

Not me but it’s been mentioned in another thread recently, it’ll probably come up in a search, all the best. Edit , it’s in the depression and mental health thread.
Thanks mate, I only got told a month ago I was getting the op, it’s always good to talk or get some info for people that had the surgery

I’ll check it out
