Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Really? I think that is a most bizarre thing to say to your wife . How else was she supposed to interpret the phrase?
Would you not think it just said but not really a threat ? If it was of so much concern to her why did she not file for an annulment straight away ?
Having been through a bitter divorce perhaps I side with someone who obviously didn't mean it literally ,you would not believe the things her lawyer prompted including my "and a bit " in the earlier posts .
She had me locked up for wrecking the house when there was no damage not even a cup overturned ,it seems shouting it down the phone was enough to have me hauled out of the house in bare feet handcuffed and put in a cell with a drunk peeing against the wall for two hours to then be released without charge .

Morning all . My thought(s) for the day .

It starts with teachers at your kids school …..
Then you notice it in the police ……
Suddenly it’s ALL the Doctors …….
But really ?
How come even the Pope is now younger than me ?
I may never get to see white smoke again 🤷‍♂️🙂
Only the good die young so we are safe . I was 15 walking down the street when a woman pulled her boy out of my way and said" mind out of that man's way " my childhood gone in a flash .

I have no idea what "I'm going to kill you if you leave me " could mean other than - I'm going to kill you if you leave me

To be frank your workmate sounds a bit unhinged to me . The wife seems well out of such a relationship.

Well I won at dominoes tonight, a whole £1, which is big money in our group.

Kay’s sleeping nicely now, but I was reminded of Johnny Cash and his song hurt. In it his wife June put in an appearance stood on the stairs. She died not long afterwards and a little while later so did Cash. A true love story in my mind…anyway enjoy the video…..

I love this song and Johnny Cash. He definitely died of a broken heart.

You have to be so careful what you say Pete ,a lad I worked with told his bride "if you ever leave me I will kill you " she used it later in the divorce saying he had threatened her life! I don't know who is the more stupid the lawyer for putting it in or the one who granted the divorce based on it .
I'm with Jazzy on this one. It sounds like manipulative, coercive control to me. A huge red flag in any relationship.

In Liverpool we say lots of things like that ,E.G. I will knock your block off ,it will be a pig's foot tomorrow , if that is right you are dead but none of them are actual threats ,they are figures of speach .If you leave me I will kill you is a term of endearment .

It can be a vernacular thing. Here ‘I will F’ing kill you’ is commonly used in a jovial way with mates. Rarely would it make it to law here as a genuine threat (on its own anyway).

Can’t speak for your mate of course but I can see how some things are lost in translation.

I’ve completely lost all faith in humanity but I’m trying to not be affected by it.

Ignorance is sometimes bliss. Staying off social media would definitely help my mood swings.
Social media, in particular X, is a hate filled cess pit now. It’s good you know that avoidance of it helps your moods because you recognise it for what it is.

Humanity starts right on your own doorstep though. Look after your friends and neighbours and help create a good little environment around you. There is so much good work going unnoticed in local communities so maybe look into that and maybe even get involved yourself.

You raise a fair point here. Context is everything. I was taught as a teacher never to make a threat you won't carry out, but it didn't stop me threatening to pull a kids lungs out and spread salt in them, if they didn't produce their homework. Obviously i didnt mean it, and it was always taken in the context of jest, accompanied with my mad staring eyes and wild hair*. At least i think so. But some things, when stated in the cold light of day, out of context in a court room, can sound horrendous and can easily turned against you when the mood shifts, or if picked up on by a paid lawyer as an opportunity. The law is so literal.

*awaits some future allegation from a traumatised pupil, now in their 40s, wanting some compo.
