Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning everybody. @Val P your day sounded amazing. I hope the team appreciate your hard work and play well today!🤣 Good luck with the marathon @blueloon.
We had a really fun day yesterday with the cousins. The Wetherspoons on James Street was packed so we binned that off and went to The Railway. Then on to Ma Boyles and back to The Railway. We got the last train home. I haven't done that for years. I took this pic of the third Liver bird on Mersey Chambers. She us supposed to be the Mum of the other two because she's older. Iam.also feeling a bit delicate but nothing that a bacon butty won't cure!20240420_205805.webp

Gosh I know that view very well having worked in Water St and Castle St for years. Not been to the Railway for some time! Did you sit outside?

I won't offer you a glass of vino later then lol

Respect to all indeed (including you and your Husband) I've never really given any thought as to how the flag displays are organised. These things really do make a difference to the atmosphere.
ANYTHING that might give the players a boost in vital games like today is appreciated.
Unfortunately I can't be at the game today, but thanks to one of our fantastic GOT members I WILL be taking my Grandson to his first derby on Wednesday. UTFT ;)
You just don’t appreciate what goes on to get things like this ready do you? I’d also had never thought about it either. They were also saying how much it all costs and in spite of putting stickers asking people to leave the flags behind so they can be reused, many are taken. Exciting to take your grandson on Wednesday- I hope it’s memorable for him for all the right reasons šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

No, not enough room for 11 of us outside but inside was fine. After a few pints of Doombar I had to switch to vodka - far too much liquid intake with the beer! 🤣🤣

Morning all. A busy weekend for me, as outlined in other threads. The Highland League has another shoot out between Buckie Thistle and Brechin this afternoon. Buckie are now top on a goal difference of 2, having been forced to play 5 matches in the past 10 days and won them all. Today the last match is a local derby home to Keith , Brechin are away at Brora šŸ¤ž
Tomorrow I’m running the local Moray Marathon in Elgin , a double šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž for that. I should finish in time to be home for the Forest match šŸ™‚
That’s crazy scheduling. Does Buckie have a large squad or just a really fit one?

Good morning all, we had a brilliant afternoon and evening yesterday meeting members of the 1878 group and the wonderful Sarah who also has the website Mint is Culture. Although I’d heard of this before I didn’t realise exactly what they do. Their aim is to create a good atmosphere at Goodison to encourage the team which sounds a bit vague but after we took all the photos yesterday we spent a couple of hours helping them to roll up and place flags all over lower Gwladys and put cards on almost every seat in the Park End for today. We left at 7 and they were expecting to be there until about 10 and going back in first thing to finish off. All this on a voluntary basis and what a great set of people- total respect to them all.
I felt really emotional seeing my husband and son holding up the banner but since the daughter in law has been pregnant I can blubber at anything šŸ˜‚.
So it’s back again for the early kick off and for those brave enough to watch it, spare a thought for those few people who’ve done their best to create the atmosphere needed to win when you see the flags and the park end display. Just need the team to get their finger out now.
They loved the Women of Grand Old Team T shirt by the way @Gwladysover and @anjelikaferrett and took lots of pics of it šŸ˜‚.
Enjoy your meet up @jazzy and @anjelikaferrett and have a great Sunday all šŸ’™.
Sounds fantastic, if that doesn’t encourage the team to get their ar**s into gear then nothing will.
I saw on FB about 1878 putting flags on the seats for the Burnley game and saying they were disappointed that despite being asked to leave them people had still taken them. We saw quite a few dropped on the pavement on our way back to the station . :(
Great publicity for the WOGOT t shirt by the way, glad you decided to wear it.

On our trip to Goodison we were by the Dixie Dean statue, two lads, after some negotiation (English was obviously not their first language) bought two tickets for today’s game from someone who approached them. First thing that struck us was did they think the tickets were for the Burnley game or was it the Forest match they actually wanted to see. They have been on my mind, if it was today’s game will they get in? I do hope so.
