Apology acceptedI’ll go with that.
However I do owe you an apology, as I recall that I have placed a horse bet on two occasions. Some 50 years ago my wife was the manager of a betting office and I used to pick her up each night while she cashed up etc. Anyway this one night I was in there with quite a lot of sad looking people so decided to bet on a horse, it was called Proper Jet and was at 14-1. It won and of course I was getting some dirty looks. The second time my sister had a friend who owned a horse racing at Haydock Park and my wife and I were invited to attend. So having been given the appropriate badges we parked in the owners enclosure and we took the lift up to the second or third floor where their box was. I’d prepared the bets the night before and there was a private bookies outside the box who took our bets even though one of the races had actually started. The first horse won, but the night ended up either even or slightly ahead. The box was fabulous with food and drink, but really all my wife and I wanted was to go down and see the horses as they got into the winners enclosure. I’ve been to one other racecourse at Uttoxeter where I was invited by Marstons the brewers and I took my then 5/6 year old granddaughter, the two of us had a great day but no bets were placed, just being with the horses did it for us…..
Apology accepted
Thanks Fred, I had bet Blue and Anj £20 each that you would……

I’m surely not on my own now pondering more cabbage recipes as I ease into the morning??

We have it in Finland . just butter on top Hmmmm. It’s potato bread really which is an absolute staple here but doesn’t seem to exist over there strangely.
I see they dumped the original title, “Life in a single bed”.
My favourite of all breads. Do you also have soda bread by any chance? We have it in Finland . just butter on top Hmmmm.
