Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

First day has gone like this. Met some Evertonians in the boarding queue at Manchester Airport. Had a bit of a chat with them about our current plight. Arrived at our hotel after a taxi journey with Claudio, the effortlessly cool Italian taxi driver, kitted out like an Armani model! The hotel is lovely - we have a little balcony and a garden to look at. Decided to go walk about but, priorities, needed beer! €5 for a bottle of Peroni. However the bottles were 660 ml which, even with my poor maths is not far off a pint and a half! Bargain. Walked to Castel d'Angelo , crossed the river on the Pont d 'Angelo and found what appeared to be a scruffy little cafe but wow! Gorgeous pizza and pasta. Now chilling in the hotel and 11400 steps logged.

@anjelikaferrett , do you mind me asking how much the taxi was Anj ?, a friend of mine is thinking of going and she may be happier getting a cab rather than the train from the airport , which we did.
We flew into Ciampino airport which Is smaller than the other one and we're advised to pre book a taxi because there are not many around. This was true when we got there. I booked through Booking.com and it was £50. Sounds like a lot but for the distance travelled it was probably a fair price.
