Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

My Dad was a US Marine who served in Korea. His funeral was like that with Marines carrying the casket and the playing of Taps. They gave the folded flag to me. I'm glad I had the military honors performed for him and that other veterans around the world have similar honors done.
A very fitting tribute to your Dad.

Morning all. Had a good time yesterday, brought back some lovely memories of my Dad, on the eve of the anniversary of his passing 38 years ago. Went to St. Paul’s although we didn’t go in, over the Millenium Bridge to the Tate Modern and then walked along the South Bank. Also took several trips on the Underground (no mean feat for someone who has anxiety issues) and would have been impossible for me a few years ago, so I felt quite proud of myself. Thanks for trying Blue but I haven't been able to open that link, neither on my PC nor my phone. Probably deleted the relevant app on my phone in my endeavours to keep the storage up. At the moment I have no Facebook, WhatsApp, Emails (just on my phone) and messenger amongst other things. Hopefully get it sorted today.

Good morning all. Serious IT issues in work again. I've been staring at a screen trying to load up for ages. So thought I would have a chat with you all instead. Love the pics @Gwladysover pleased you had a good day. Nice to hear from you @fandjango that guitar looks stunning. It's just popped up on my Facebook memories that today is the anniversary of the passing of Howard Kendall. I'll raise a glass to him tonight. If any of you haven't watched Howard's Way please please watch it. You will not be disappointed. It is a labour of love.

Have a good day folks. I think I'm going to knock off for an early lunch

I'm glad that you were able to remember those happy times with your Dad while you were there. I read up on the Flying Scotsman...what an incredible story!

Yes Howard's Way is tremendous. Will we ever see those days again? I suspect not.

One of my dearest friends owns Woodward’s wine bar in formby … Howard used to sit at the bar there and they gave a plaque to his name at his spot … I’ll get her to sit and toast him tonight

Hi Fred
It was just google maps showing places that sell SD cards in Cornwall.

It’s a strange thing when your Dad passes away. I was 14 at the time and sort of left looking after the family. Mum lasted for another 50 years and it sort of shapes your life without you even knowing it. You grow up quickly….

Good morning all you mascoteers I hope all slept well and have a great day .The weather is cold and wet here in Hyvinkää but that won't stop me trying to adapt a snow plough from my old mower to fit my later one which is a much different machine and is not designed to take one as far as I can see .It gives me chance to use the mig welder I inherited from the previous owner of our house . A rather deflated feeling hanging over here after the weekend as I felt we were truly showing signs and now two defeats is dampening my spirit .That won't last long though as a win on Wednesday will bring back all the hope and dreams .COYB.

Yes, I know what you mean. My Mum was totally unable to cope and although I have two younger brothers it sort of fell to me as the eldest to sort things. My kids were under five, eldest had just started school and hadn’t settled well. He was Grandad’s boy so was completely devastated and became ill. I just sort of got on with it, didn’t have time to grieve properly which came back to bite me in later years. Looking back that time completely shaped my life.

Morning all, another lovely day, temperatures forecast to be above average for the time of year, so a good day for drying the washing, saves putting the tumble dryer on. Off to Stamford this morning. They have an old-fashioned hardware shop, the type that will sell you a couple of nails and is one of Mr G.’s favourite places. He’ll happily spend ages in there, I’ll just sit on the square enjoying the sunshine. Hope all are well and have a good day all.?

I feel incredibly blessed to have had both my parents well into my adult life. My Mum passed away in 2017 aged 80 and my Dad is still here aged 85.
