Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Nope at all. Middle class boys pretending to be something they really aren’t. Very happy to play being Irish when it brought in money but equally happy to literally burn the flag to court controversy.

The Divine Comedy would be my favourite Irish band, love the Pogues as well if that counts.

Never really got into Sting or the Police for that matter although could do a greatest hits alright ?
The Boomtown Rats are my favourite Irish band, closely followed by The Undertones and The Saw Doctors

Edit: also very fond of The Pogues and The Dubliners

Feargal Sharkey is really transformed now as a campaigner. Strange though how he has no dealings with the rest of the band.

The Saw Doctors did every Irish festival for years and were always good craic. No airs and graces about them at all.

You're not a fan than lol

I thought their first 2 albums were very good. Same with The Police. Outlandos D'Amour was probably my favourite debut album of all time.

I dont mind U2. They are a bit up themselves, well Bono is, but most really big bands are. Loved their early stuff, Joshua Tree was ace, and the one with the daft title but had Its a wonderful Day on it is one of my faves.

When I used to have Twitter I followed Feargal Sharkey - he was very vocal about water pollution.

Their songs are works of genius - the lyrics are fantastic - My Perfect Cousin being a prime example "he always beat me at Subbuteo, cos he flicked a kick and I didn't know."

There's an album called Zootopia or something like that. it has a song called The Wanderer on it. Johnny Cash sings it with them- absolutely brilliant.

Think I'm a bit older than you AT. I was 19 when their album was released in 78 and they were just so different from everybody else at that time. I thought they were great. Same with U2 a couple of years later. Didn't know anything about them as indiviiduals. I just liked the music.

Favourite Irish bands? I was into the Horslips when I was younger and of course Phil Lynott. Always had a soft spot for Clannad. But The Cranberries were probably my favourite. Loved Dolores' voice. And B'witched lol

Stiff Little Fingers. Hands down, imo.
You mean like these lol
Hello all. It's absolutely torrential rain here. The cat, as always , is insisting that we show her the weather at every door because she wants to go out but does not like being wet. She is not impressed that every door has rain.
Went to Darlington this morning for some last minute stuff and to get my nails done. My Primark paper bag disintegrated in the rain. Not good when you've just purchased some new foundation garments ? ? i wouldn't mind if they were sexy little numbers but mine are for the more mature figure!

Anyway the nails ended up being a pedicure as well. never had one of them before but it was nice. So a proper selfcare Friday. I've checked our flights in. Have I told you we are flying to Barcelona via Frankfurt. Don't ask, I had no input into flight booking. I think at the time there weren't many flights out of Newcastle because of COVID so whoever picked the flights booked Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Why we couldn't just go from Leeds or Liverpool or Manchester is beyond me.

We have also discovered that there is an Iron Man competition in Barcelona on Sunday (not the Robert Downey Jr type) For some reason my gay friends are very keen on watching this. So instead of the Gaudi architecture I might be watching some superfit athletes instead.
Enjoy your G and T Fred and welcome home Jazzy.

Here's a pic of the new nails

Apparently very aloof (my cousin was a mate when he lived in Armagh) but isn’t that a prerogative of a Rock Star!
