Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello folks. How's things? I had a lovely catch up with my friend. She's going to be a Grandma again in February so she's very excited about that. We put the world to rights over coffee and a doughnut. What's not to.like?
Have you watched the Everton interview with Iwobi? He's in the dressing room and refers to Coady and Tarkowski as like two Dad's. He says they are the parents of the dressing room and you would think they had been there for years. Maybe that's what's been missing!

Looks like I might qualify for a "Go Green" Govt thing to insulate the older walls of the cottage, and insulate the loft, (whats left of it anyrate) after a 3 1/2 hour survey by some EPG bloke earlier. Maybe air source heat pumps as well, what ever they are.

Longest I have spent with one person in nearly a year. Was knackered afterwards. Like taking an exam knackered.
TBH had all my house insulated walls. Loft etc on a grant an age ago - made not much of a difference imo
Be careful on the heat pump as the government only give 40\50 percent & they can cost 7-9 grand
Plus are unproven to work that well as yet .......

This scheme is they pay the lot. Whatever needs to be done, as long as I am ok with it. I have heard some good and bad about those heat pump things as well. Even though I aint sure what they do thats so great.

So if they insulate the old cavity walls, and improve the loft insulation, to my pea brain, that isnt gonna make anything worse. Money wise. Them heat pumps, not so sure.

Yes, I agree I got my insulation done for free too as my earnings were low at retirement age -

Heat pumps the guy next door got one - I enquired with the Engineer when he was leaving & stated they work when the ground is warm in the summer, but will be useless in the winter when the ground is cold - plus they run off electricity ?

They are very much in the infancy ....

Plus your loft - make sure they place the fibre glass or foam insulation between your joists - I caught my cowboys just rolling it out across the joist .....it was not neat plus gales can disturb the insulation if they do it that way...

That guy will just send a government chosen firm out to you, 90% are pretty good - but watch them .....;)

The insulation has to be plus as it will also keep the house cooler in the summer ,You can google heat pumps and they do use electricity .If it is the kind you see outside on a wall they are quite expensive to run ,there is another which we have but it entails a long pipe filled with refrigerant being placed underground which is expensive . they work like a fridge in reverse taking warmth from outside or in the ground and giving it to you . We paid 10,000 euros 25 years ago for the type in the ground .
Just make sure the insulation isn't tied to the pump as they could be sponsoring the scheme.

Good morning allit is getting harder to give the weather as it is dark here now .I hope all had a good night and have a fine day . I miss Sassy's input on this thread .COYB.
My morning walks are now starting in the dark and while I don’t mind that really it isn’t quite as nice as the lighter spring/summer mornings. Stargazing instead of nature watch it is then!

Morning everyone,

First game of the season last night and already injured!

Actually just a reoccurrence of an elbow injury that I thought had cleared up. A month ago it was my heel now my elbow perhaps my body is trying to tell me something.

Mrs J has been looking for her glasses for the last 24 hours and I've just found them in Rosie's basket mangled and chewed. Rosie is now in the doghouse , but that won't last for long.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Wow , which island you on today Fred ? Looks fantastic , you've had some holiday amigo.
Crete Jazz. Something or other Bay. We moored about 20 minutes away from where Robbs brother and family were staying. Great views from the Villa but an absolutely hairy ride to get there. Fortunately one of his daughters is not much if a drinker. The others are. My kind of people.
