Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I'll be up in your neck of the woods next week LT. Going to Musselburgh races and will be staying a couple of nights in Edinburgh. Can you recommend anywhere for a nice meal. Both my mates are fussy eaters and to make it worse they each dislike different things. Probably Chinese food is the safest bet.
Will get back to you on this one Fred, will consult with my youngest daughter, she isw the expert on all things Edinburgh having lived there as a student.

Cheers mate. Apparently we're staying close to Princes Street if that helps.
LIAN PU ORIENTAL EXPRESS RESTAURANT. Marshall Street off Nicolson Square be aware it is cash only.
My personal favourite is a himalayan restaurant called Namaste Kathmandu in Forrest Road.
The City Restaurant on Nicholson Street is really good though I would recommend booking, it is a chippy with a large restaurant attached though they also do pizza, pasta and steaks.
A good pub is Sandy Bells on Forrest Road where you will often find traditional musicians playing in a nice environment with good ales and a friendly atmosphere.
There are a few Nicholson pubs dotted about the city, they do really good pub food and you usually get 20% off your first visit if you register on their website.
5pm .com is another good restaurant
discount site for Edinburgh
It is an expensive City so be prepared for that
I hope this gives you enough to go on, best of luck and enjoy your visit.

Exciting news, friends. Received an email yesterday than my DNA samples have been received, the hubby also sent his, so in a few weeks we will know where all those European genes and more importantly where the Vietnamese genes, that Sofia’s DNA showed are coming from. I’ll keep you updated about the results.
I was gifted one of these last Christmas and I am 99.9% British/Irish and .1% SE Asian?
I find it really interesting finding how widespread my distant relatives are throughout the World.

Cheers LT. One doesn't eat curry or rice and the other doesn't eat anything with eggs, cheese or onion in it. lol

We'll probably end up going for a Chinese and he'll order crispy duck starter followed by sizzling steak in black bean sauce and a portion of chips. Next night we'll likely go for a steak.

They both like fish and chips but the tickets we have for the races include a fish and chip lunch. Woe betide either of them would have anything as fancy as tartare sauce with it though.lol

It is super interesting, our DNA test in addition to ancestry information, will also provide us a health report based on our genes, so I’m quite interested in the results of that too. I was listening to the public radio the other day and they were going over a story about a woman who through DNA testing was able to find out that she has a gene that will eventually could cause stomach cancer, there was a family history of it, so she made the decision to get her stomach removed before even getting cancer.

The food in this place is a bit more upmarket but it's worth going in for a pint just to see the decor.

Morning all on this hot and sultry day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all had a good kip and wake anew today . It would be nice to hear from @Methuselah if only a one liner to let us know they are both fine.
Have a great day all and stay out of that sun.
We might hear something on the transfer front I think if it is correct that we need to sell this month.

There’s a programme on BBC (sorry @Terrarian ;)) called DNA family secrets, which helps people find their heritage, lost family and also whether they or their children have mutations which would affect their health. They followed two sisters from County Down who thought they may have the mutation which causes breast cancer as they had lost their mother and several relatives to the disease. Fascinating stuff.
