Messi "best player of all time"

I've had the luck of watching Messi live for the last 4 seasons, but I like to think I can be objective. This argument in general is not normally a haven of objectivity.

If you only watch the Premiership more or less it would be difficult to forget how Cronaldo suddenly switched on the jetpack and absolutely destroyed defences for those couple seasons before he legged it to Madrid.

Live as at the actual match?

Would be magic that, and granted, that would probably make me more of an admirer! Not saying he isnt brilliant, just I havnt actually see him much. For some weird reason.

Yeah, I've been lucky enough to have a season ticket for the last 4 seasons and saw a good few games each season for a couple before that. Crap atmosphere but quality football.

Messi is without a doubt a better technical player but CR7 is better for me because
- Better physical player quicker, stronger and taller
- Relishes big moments and thrives on being the man
- Proven on multiple different stages international and won CL and league titles in two different countries
- constant evolution as a player to maximise his talents gets every drip out of his body possible
- Physcopathic drive to be the very best to the point that most would call unerring

I have but you just instantly bat other people’s opinions away without actually listening to what people say.

For what it’s worth I can decide between the two players. Though clearly this World Cup is a no contest so far.

I disagree, you could maybe show me where I am not listening?

I explained why your response was off in a later post to Walken. No big deal, but you replied to things I didn't actually say.

Truth is you can't really separate them , they are both indisputably great players who have played scintillating football.
It just comes down to personal preferences.
It's definately Messi for me. He plays for the team first and foremost and never gives up . He is also loyal.
Ronaldo plays for himself and himself alone and is a inveterate cheat.
Plus Messi wouldn't allow himself to be kicked out of a game by Phil Neville.
This is where you lost the argument. He's a crapshoot if he's not being fed by a Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets level of quality on the reg

CR on the other hand, got injured in a Euro final, tried to play on, couldn't, then basically became the 12th man from the sidelines

Messi would have gone down the tunnel FFS.

You cannot underestimate the power of having Xavi and Iniesta who were arguably the two best midfielders in the world feeding him for ~7 years.
As soon as he steps out of that Barcelona comfort he's no longer as strong. Needs to prove himself elsewhere to truly be considered IMO.

Ronaldo is an supremely talented massive tax cheat of an adonis, knows it, revels in it and gets on with it.

Messi is a supremely talented snide of a tax cheat, hides in the same team he has been protected in his whole career, leads from the back sniping manager and team mate alike.

Lets face it if you had to pick it would be Ronaldo every day of the week.

 You make it sound like 90% of his goals were tap ins rather than him beating several players before scoring from distance.

I thought Salah would be the flop of this WC but Messi has that sewn up.

There is a hair distance between Ronaldo and Messi. And each season dependent on form either one could be the best. So lucky have been able to watch them both.

Actually this really is wrong. One of the things Messi is noted for is his determination to stay on the pitch even when getting kicked all over the show.
In the end they are both great players and more importantly neither ever have nor ever will play for us , sadly.
Everything else is just opinion.

Put him in a weaker side and he fails. Sure, he's scored a lot of great goals but the hallmark of a great player is doing it when the odds aren't stacked in your favour. If he turns round and drags Argie to the final then there'd need to be a re-think, and I honestly couldn't think of a better neutral final than him against Ronaldo to cap their careers.
