He was in the team last night because of his running ability, because that's what we needed.
Do we need the same qualities away at Palace? Dunno. I won't have a problem if he doesn't start if the tactical set up means there's someone better suited, but I'd much prefer to see him coming off the bench etc than the likes of Alcaraz.
Yeah, that's what i'm trying to get at, City is a totally different approach than Palace.
And if that's how Moyes looks at the situation than it could get a bit toxic in here.
Moyes definitely wanted to counter the pace with pace on that side, he used Illy in the previous game against them to do it on that side.

He goes with Merlin when he wants to keep the midfield compact mate last night and Vs Villa - be interesting to see if Merlin and Barry keep their places.
Beto and Alcaraz, have also stole the show Vs Palace more then once in that fixture.

I just think if we want to progress to being a top team, that pace Merlin provides has to be in there. He could be an absolute beast as a box to box midfielder.
Think he will be very good for us next season, with him now looking adapted to the league I think he's got a lot going for him, the fact he can play a few positions will make him very useful too.
All we need to do now is manage his body and injuries, can see him featuring a lot next season.

That whole sequence is really impressive. He absolutely torches Guehi and then a great decisive ball in. He seems to put in a good defensive shift, so if I were manager it would be hard to leave him out of the lineup.

Excellent, honest and eloquent post match interview. Kept talking for about 5 minutes. Worded his frustrations about not playing very respectfully, need to work hard and be patient etc etc. Glad he was open about being frustrated rather than just shrugging. It came across as genuine.
He said as soon as he arrived in his early interviews he was fast and versatile and it was overlooked.
2 maddeningly annoying points he made last night:
- “I know I am fast. Took some time but now everyone in the team knows I’m really fast.”
- “I can play right back……”
What the hell do they do every day at FF. All those bloody rondos. No one has ever seen him run!!
