2025/26 Merlin Röhl

These are the Moyes quotes on Rohl from the other day:

“Merlin, I think, is going to take a bit of time,” he said. “He’s going to fall over the ball a few times and he’s going to be a bit uncompromising at times, but he’s got other attributes which are really important and I hope that he’ll pick them up and he’ll get better as we go along.

“So he’s done a really good job as well. [Villa] was more like what we were hoping to see from Merlin as well, and I think he’s got more to come.”
Has he just called him pony there

Is it?

If have expected the lad we want to spend 20 million on to be getting picked ahead of the 10 million FFP gamble.

I find it rather disappointing and a bit of an indictment on him that he isn't.
That's a ridiculous way of looking at things. Tim is much much better than we could have hoped for. We only paid £60k for Seamus Coleman. Sometimes cheaper player turn out to be ballers and are better than more expensive options.

Iroegbunam is hardly a baller and spending 18 million on a lanky German lad that can't impress the manager more than he does is a bit disappointing to me. We need better than that.

Think you need to share this quote mate, from the original source..
For your Manager to say that publicly, smells a bit Fishy..

If it doesn't work out for him on the field, then he can be a damn good addition to our media team..
Very impressive with his camera work and speaks well..

Those comments are fair enough in my opinion mate , that’s what we’ve seen from him.

If Moyes can get him to post his Villa performence, full tilt, every week, we’l have a good player on our hands.

Good preseason, I think does him and Dibling the world of good.

Moyes' comments about Rohl suggest he is impressing him though.

"Then I think that Evertonians might have just started to see a bit more of Merlin Röhl today. I see quite a lot of it in training. He's been up and down a little bit and he's coming back from a hernia operation, so he's just beginning to get an idea of what the Premier League is like. He's got loads to improve on as well but if we're going to judge them so quickly then we're not going to give them an opportunity [to show their best].

"I say it because the people who have watched Everton for many years will know the likes of Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jagielka – they all had to bide their time before they got regular games. I'm not saying it's exactly the same but if they go on to be as good as any of those players, that's what we want."

Tim is absolutely a baller. He's been one of our best players the majority of the time he has played and he should play more. £18m is nothing nowadays. Not every signing works out.
