Mentality

We did rather recently see the now European Champions celebrate a home league draw against West Brom with much gusto.

I would have preferred them to get on with the game, but in the circumstances yesterday the reaction of the players was entirely on gut instinct.

What didn't help at all was Silva talking up our poor record against Spurs and claiming a home draw as some achievement. In the overall context it is absolutely not.

A small point, some would say trivial and pedantic. They could be right...

But 97th minute equaliser at home, against 10 men.

5 minutes left on the clock.

Instead of getting on with the game going for that winner as the top teams no doubt would, our players go an celebrate with the crowd.

Instinct should be to get the ball out the net and get that winner, not this;

Not a small point at all, it summed our mentality up perfectly.... Remember too, not only was it against 10 man spurs, it was against an out of form Spurs who were missing Harry Kane......

I can think of a club nearby, who were also 1-0, equalised late, and still went on and won the game.... Self belief, hunger and relentlessness...... We lack those qualities as a club...

You heard the manager bring up the fact we hadn´t beaten Spurs in 7 years as if it was some kind of excuse for our failings yesterday. This mentality filters down to the players for sure and you get actions like the above. I don´t actually think any other club you´d expect to see in the top 10 at the end of the season would´ve celebrated like that.

Think given the emotional nature of the game this type of celebration can be forgiven yesterday. Agree with the statement though, need to be hungrier for wins

This.

I also think maybe it being Tosun who scored upped the emotional stakes. He's been cast out somewhat and I thought this was the squad showing their togetherness. So as above, the general point is fair, but there's extenuating circumstances given Gomes injury and Cenk coming out of Purdah...

The best 3 teams I’ve seen in the EPL era were Arsenal “invincibles”, Man U under SAF & Chelsea under Mourinho. All great football teams, but won the physical battle.

Compare them to Silva’s Everton who got bullied by Millwall & Aston Villa & Sheffield Utd & Bournemouth ....

Players hugging Son yesterday summed it up for me. We need a massive clear out. Silva, the entire back room & half the squad.

What a load of old tosh. Given the situation of the match, given the injury to a very popular player, given the atmosphere in the ground - the team celebrated and so they should.

Anything else is just looking for a point to stick one on the manager.

A load of old tosh? Behave.

Just looking for a point to stick one on the manager? It's not needed...

Iwobi, DCL and Pickford were all screaming to get on with the game - rightly so.

I actually though with what had gone on,scoring the late goal to make it 1-1 that we maybe have sneaked the winner, may have had that chance if Rich wasnt brought down in injury time when they should have got another Red probably/maybe
