Media attitude towards Everton.

I never worked football. But generally the football media in the nationals is the guys the papers rate and who will climb the ladder. So Oxford educated posh boys who grew up watching their football on Sky. That's where the bias comes from. Most of them these days won't remember the 80s. Everton are a club who don't have that broad appeal to replica shirt buyers in the South East and so, unless we produce something newsworthy like Ferguson hugging ball boys, the press aren't going to be scratting about looking for any old fluff to write about us.

Bascially, people who open their newspaper and say "I wish there were more opinion pieces about Everton!" are a niche market.

Oh you meant insights about Lawro on Otterspool prom?
City were thought if the same until they hut the jackpot

5live basically giving it the little old everton line, jermaine jenas saying we surely cant believe our luck in getting ancelotti, doesnt think hes a good fit, should've went for moyes, arteta etc and shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. knobs

Kin no-mark Jenas. Did F-all as a player, achieved nothing, fell into a media job and now thinks he's billy big-balls.

File away under insignificant bellend.

While I agree that Everton tend to get looked over and head patted quite a bit it does remain a fact that we've been a deeply mediocre side since the inception of the Premier League and the cry-arsing by some blues has been over the top.

Get things right and the media coverage changes. Spurs had a spell of being a running joke, Spurs being Spursy, and there were always plenty of snide comments in the media for a long time about the Spice Boys and it "being Liverpool's year.....again". Even Man Utd have seen their coverage go to will they / won't they make the top 4 or even Europa and being something of a figure of fun rather than it being a right of theirs to win the league which is what the narrative was a few years ago.

We've been such a nothing club these past 10 years it's not surprising they look down on us, Being the underdog is better though.

I've said this on here before. Jermain Jena's is an absolute whopper. He wasn't even that good of a footballer and now earns a fortune trying to make out he knows something about the game.

The media will go wherever news is and the fact is our last newsworthy event was the Wimbledon relegation game when apparently TV crews from 30 countries attended

If we went down now it wouldn't cause a stir beyond the portals of GP our relentless morphing into Stoke, Coventry, WBA etc has seen to that. We're treated as also rans because that's what we've been for decades
