In all seriousness, that is terrible logic. I'm sure more people die in car accidents than in gun-relate violence. What is their point? Ban cars? The 11,000+ is shocking regardless what it is held in comparison too. Also, there's a difference between "accident" and intentional violence.

I've also heard that, oddly enough, but I think the 'official' story is that someone from a shop called "Sex" wanted the meanest band around or something similar and found them in Lydon and company basically.

Lyden used to hang out in that shop in Chelsea. As did Mclaren. It was owned by Vivian Westwood, and its where all the bondage/punk gear originated from.
Pretty sure the name is more Kiss derived though
