Which seems to have been our previous approach and why Moneyball doesn't work for Football.I mean, you could just look at numbers on a spreadsheet and end up with another Gylfi Sigurdsson.

That's not how moneyball worked. If anything, he'd be the perfect example of who NOT to buy.Which seems to have been our previous approach and why Moneyball doesn't work for Football.
Not outside of England.Has this been the quietest transfer window ever?

The book is better. It's an easy read.Never seen it, It was a shot in the dark.
So not exactly a thriller? I've heard good things so might give it a watch. The book is better. It's an easy read.
Quick summary - the things traditionalists thought were important in terms of events and the traditional stats to value them were way off. By thinking about things differently, understanding better the cause and effect of the results of baseball, and then attempting to measure them, a team could identify players that were perhaps undervalued based on that misunderstanding. It was also borne out of necessity because the club it was about didn't have any money.
IMO, Siggy would've been identified as being poor in open play creation and more of a set piece specialist.
To succeed we need to buy lads with a gimpy stride and dangly arms provided they get on baseThe book is better. It's an easy read.

It's easy to do as he never gave us much to complain about . Haven't missed a player so much since Parkinson .Christ I never realised how good our midfield was when we had Gana.....

It's all good in theory saying we have 5 cms plus siggy but when they include schneiderlin delph and davies you understand why we need oneWe have 5 central midfielders - Gomes, Delph, Davies, Schneiderlin and Gbamin - plus Sigurdsson who can play there and Besic out on loan
if a priority is to sign a central midfielder then clearly we have a number of players surplus to requirements and there should be some sales to offset those coming in
strange that, because you didn’t shut up for 2 years banging on about how great he was
If you say so mateSays the man who apparently hasn't watched English top flight football since the 80's
