Lalas just called Martinez "the professor."
My only complaint - RM is wearing a pink tie right now... gotta learn to avoid red and pinks now. COYB.

What in the name of holy [Poor language removed] does this [Poor language removed] think he's doing?
1 week into a new job and he's already swanned off to South America to watch some football when he should be here running the club day to day. Get this fraudulent [Poor language removed] out of our club ASAP!!!!!!!!

Between the games, Bob Ley and Lalas congratulated Roberto on the FA cup and then shifted straight to his move to Everton. Mentioned Tim Howard (Lalas asked point blank if he was going anywhere) and RM talked him up and said he wasn't going anywhere.
He talked up the whole squad too. When asked if he was going to be active this offseason he said yes. He said the team is great and it would be a shame to let this squad go to waste without pushing forward with some new players right now. Ley also made a side comment about how "we get to watch him during the breaks where he is on the phone". So it looks like RM is being very active about his role at Everton even while in Brazil. He is actively scouting world class talent, but also actively in touch with the club.
if I can find a video of this, i'll try to link it. probably a good 3 minutes of Everton talk between the Mexico/Italy and Spain/Uruguay games.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!
...Bill will be made up with Martinez scouting and ESPN picking up the costs.
I hope not, I care as little that he's doing punditry abroad as I did that Moyes did it locally (still amused by the difference in reaction though), but scouting using a major tournament is a bad move.
1. If they play well in a tourny doesn't mean they can do it every week
2. If they play well in a tourny... their price goes through the roof
3. If they don't play well in a tourney and he moves on... we could miss out on some quality players.
Hoping he's just being a pundit and he'll have his targets allready laid out, maybe cast his eye over a few he's already chosen whilst out there, or at most look for some stupidly quick players, but anything more than that and we will be gambling with players when they hit their premium value.
He seems too sensible for that though imo.

Just learned that the ESPN studio for this tournament is actually in Bristol (ESPN's home office). So not sure if this is better or not, but Roberto is actually about an hour outside New York City and is not in Brazil at all.
