I got to watch it. I also remember watching Martinez as a pundit with ESPN last WC and really liked him. He knew his stuff. I didn't catch the beginning today so I don't know how he was introduced (never heard Everton mentioned in the clips I saw).

That being said, he was great. The studio team is: Bob Ley, Alexi Lalas, Roberto Martinez, and Tato Noriega.

Bob Ley is ESPN's seasoned anchor and respectable.
Alexi Lalas is also at the desk as a recognizable American. While Lalas is knowledgable, he also can just be an idiot/instigator sometimes.
Martinez is clearly the expert European professional and he is comfortable on camera and in studio.
And to be honest, I had to look up Noriega. He apparently was a big Mexican player. He was noticeably uncomfortable, but that seemed far more to do with language barrier (he really struggled to find the right words, it was awkward). If this doesn't improve, I don't see him being on the team for the WC.

Watching Noriega struggle made me love Martinez more. He is obviously quite comfortable with the language and it was funny to watch those 3 carry the show.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing more of our new man. If you guys aren't able to see this over in Europe, I'll try to give you guys some updates when I get to see him.

I'd rather he was back home sorting the club's affairs out, understanding how everything works (or more to the point, doesn't work), putting plans and strategies in place and ragging **** out of Bill as it's likely to be the only way he'll get any money out of him.

See, we are already getting more global exposure due to having this Spanish speaking genius at the helm.

Moyes meanwhile is commentating on Border TV this summer, guest commentator for the annual Highland Fling 6 a side tournament sponsored by McMillan & Sons of Fife scrap metal merchants.

McMillan & Sons of Govan....purveyors of the finest industrial Woodfinishes money can buy.....part of our business empire! And, Roberto just had his cinema room done in our material. Hows that for thread association.

...yep, I'd prefer him to be doing similar but with emphasis on bringing players in. Saying that, I suspect he might've committed to this during his Wigan days and can't get out of it now.

This will be his holiday leave, he is entitled to two weeks off, the players are also on holiday too so he cant meet them and train them yet, he will be in his office on the 1st of July. Wouldn't worry too much.

And by all accounts he's already been working quite hard anyway, judging by what people have said about him who have worked under him and along side him he is always working for his club no matter what he is doing.

Didn't Moyes get slated on here for doing TV punditry?

Just sayin'...

Moyes did it during the season, in the midweek between the 2 big games. The 2nd game was the Wigan one where we got beat 3-0.

What was feared came to fruition; the lack of focus by the manager in the build up - totally out of character & the first time he'd ever been a live game pitch side pundit during the season, especially during a busy club week - can't have helped the clubs preparations vs Wigan. Bet you we'll never see Moyes do this whilst he's Utd manager.

Martinez situation totally different. It's in the close season, it's June, he doesn't officially become manager until July 1st & it was a longstanding booking he had.

Absolutely nothing wrong with him getting his face out there whilst able to get a good look at some new talent.

July 1st is when the real work begins anyway
