Last season Plan A worked, then the teams in our league worked us out this season and Bobby had nothing in the play-book except to keep doing plan A until that infamous night at GP. Teams are not "parasites" because they work other teams out, it,s up to Bobby to be smarter then the oppo which he has failed at this season when tested.

I seem to recall others may remember better that during the Moyes reign a meeting was called with the manager and players (before a match in London) when things were very bad. Bill stepped into the the room and warned the players that Moyes was here to stay for the long term in order to knock down the flames and buy some time. One wonders if something similar has occurred very recently with the this manager and squad in order to to buy Bill some time as he assess the situation on the end run of this season. It may account for the recent remarks by Bobby that everyone is on notice and his " I.m not stubborn" remarks this week. I'm not sure if those exec pressure tactics work anymore as a threat in a $5b-$8b industry in which players can now upsticks and play anywhere given the money sloshing around in the game.

It,s down to the fans now, if Bill feels that the fans cannot buy into the manager for the long run then he may decide to make a change or let Bobby go to another post that could become available in the summer. Whatever happens you have to wonder if the club want to go through a very challenging summer in the transfer market and then come out on the other side for a new season knowing that the manager will be under immense pressure from the first kick of the new season.

I think you're reading way too much into things, tbh.

The Moyes situation was pacified by him going to senior players and asking them their opinion on matters and then seeing a delegation of them regularly thereafter (the likes of Howard, Weir, Osman, Neville, Jagielka). He did that because he was arrogant when he arrived and had that appalling second season finishing 17th and he looked like he was on borrowed time. It's fantasy to think that Kenwright gets involved in any of that stuff. He just wants the world to go away and Everton to retain PL status each season. If the fans are happy, then that's a bonus. As long as he's taking care of Earl/Green's asset and the manager isn't threatening it with relegation he's not arsed.

On Martinez, from January on these players have rallied and put it in. Not good enough performance wise, but the effort has been there. And the senior players like Howard (just this week on Football Focus) and Jagielka have poured scorn on any criticism of Martinez and underlined it's the players who haven't adapted to the PL/EL schedule well enough.

"It's down to the fans now"! Yeah, BK has a great record in listening to the fans like. Kirkby, the Blue Union stuff...couldn't give a shiny one, and you know it.

We have a manager on a five year contract. He's finished 5th first season with all the plaudits and had a difficult second season where we'll finish mid-table in all probability. If you think Kenwright is looking at that and thinking he has to pay upwards of £10M for firing and hiring two management teams this summer then you need to think again.

Some of the stuff that gets put forward in all seriousness!! Unreal.

Born. That is all.

I certainly wasn't born an Everton fan. Only started supporting Everton in my early 20's. Had absolutely zero interest in football prior to that and, in fact, hated the sport in my teens. When I was about 6 or 7, I had a *sigh* Muller Aston Villa jersey that my mam bought for me because I liked the colour. I wasn't born an Evertonian, though I wasn't manufactured either. I'd say I just sort of accidentally fell in to a vat full of Everton and mutated.

I think that Bill has had that meeting with the players and manager...can I prove it? no but I think he has done so, like I said.

Bill won,t have to fund it if Bobby accepts another post.

A great win against Southampton at the weekend. If we had beat Man Utd with the same performance people would have been bouncing around the room.

People need to stop being so stubborn and actually give the man credit when he deserves it. Never an easy team to beat, but he approached the game tactically well and it shows. Give him time, it's only his second year at the club. Everyone has very short memories.

Based on what though? It's outlandish. There's absolutely nothing to suggest it.

I realise now the worst of this season is over there's a lot of frustration still knocking about and looking to find a channel to be expressed, and I suppose that's where far fetched scenarios like this come into it.

The truth will be way more mundane.

A poor second season, everyone knows it, and they all need to crack on next season to avoid a repeat. That's just about the top and bottom of it.

Martinez has received criticism at times and said: “It has been a very strong learning curve.

“Obviously, we have enjoyed our European experience and we are a completely different team than we were at the beginning of the season.

“We don’t shy away from the expectations, and it is something that we are going to use in a good way, to become a winning team.

“Our history demands success and this season has been finding the right balance between realistic expectation and being able to be ourselves on the pitch.

“I think, as a manager, you need to take criticism if you don’t get results. I will always take responsibility when the results are not going our way and what I always do is look into the dressing room and see the characters we have got, the personalities we have got - they are people who stand up to the challenge.

“With people like that, you are really looking forward to finding solutions and being successful. I think this season we showed that we are ready to face challenges head-on and we are really excited about the future.

“Obviously, we have got seven games left in the league and we are very much concentrating on how many points we can get from now until the end of the season and finishing really strong.”

Fair do's mate

Doesn't matter how you got here, fact is you finally found your way home

Welcome, you're where you belong

Said the same after QPR in december.

doesnt matter how you win as long as you do. all martinez has to do is keep us doing it and then doesnt matter about plan a b or c working or not.

The next 8 months will determine him as a manager, does he go up and prove himself or down and justify his critisism? After all, we gave moyes his bad season and chance to turn it around, time for Roberto now to prove everyone who doubted him wrong.
