Not that he hasn't fully deserved strong criticism but the backlash against Martinez this season has been a massive overreaction in my opinion.

Although relegation was there and was a slight possibility I never once genuinely believed it could happen, that's probably just because if I was any more laid back I'd fall over but hey ho.

Does anybody actually still want him sacked right now?

I wouldn't say i want him sacked as such, but if he and Everton part company over the summer i dont think it would be much of a loss to the club, i am also wary about giving him large sums of money to spend in the summer.

Exactly a year ago today we we're spanking Arsenal all over the park.

That's the best of Martinez

Therein lies the conundrum mate.

We know the squad, and the manager are capable of far better things than the dross we've mostly seen this season. For a variety of reasons, not all of which can be laid at Martinez's door, we've been poor for the vast majority of the season. If he looks like he's in the process of sorting it out before Christmas then he'll have my backing. If not, I reckon I'll be in the Martinez out camp some time in January 2016.

I'm pretty sure he's not at all arsed what I think though, and rightly so.

Some of it was horrendous, bordering on racism, especially all over twitter.

The mans one of the nicest hardworking genuine fellas in football, shows pride and class in our club and gave us such an enjoyable first season and all that was pushed aside within a few months. Not an ounce of patience or understanding from some of them. So fickle some of our fans.

...I'd also chip in with the word 'bullying'.

The attack on RM has had all the hallmarks of it. Certainly not from the vast majority of his critics, but there's been a lot of attacks that I dont think would have been made if, say, a Moyes type character had been going through the poor results we had in those winter months.

A very unsavoury period - especially when those self same people were probably singing about Bobby's Brown Shoes and all the Ali Ali Alio stuff last season.

An appalling period in our recent history, one that's thankfully coming to an end.
