It's a fair point. Let me be a little more clear about the question. FLHD said he wanted him sacked after Hull. Which means he's advocating a mid-season sacking. Which means we go with an in house appointment or someone who didn't have a job at that time. Surely that list can't be too long?

Jesus, did Palace have to appoint in house or appoint someone out of a job you major fool

I'm not on the Martinez out train yet. But he does need to change tactics when we play at home. We have to come out of the gate stronger with confidence. Spoon full of sugar to get that ugly medicine down.

I know its a sort of if My auntie had bollocks she'd be my Uncle type question, but if we were knocked out of Europe in the group stage and were having the same PL season, what sort of Difference would that make to the poll result. How much has/is the Europa league saving him? If we get Liverpool in the next round and they put us out that would be the lowest I will have ever been as a football fan I think.

I was going to give him this season no matter what but yeah I do think that europe is a big positive for him in fans eyes.

And rightly so, the fact that we're palying well and getting wins in one competition gives people hope that he can do it in the others too. It's right to have a slightly more positive outlook then if we'd been awful in every game this season instead of just 90% of them.

If we could get Klopp I agree, he's worth a look at sacking Martinez. However, would he give us the time of day? Can we match that price? Would he not be more interested in jobs with more money? He has to be getting bored of all his best players getting poached by richer teams...we're not a step up in that regard.

you may be right, but if we were to splash on a manager, he is worth every cent we pay. He is exactly what we need to improve(they called it GEGENPRESSING) and his reputation might prevent the exodus of players like mirallas, lukaku, McCarthy etc.

I've just read we need to sack Martinez and bring in Royle...

Sure. But can we get him? That's really, really important to the idea we should be sacking Martinez for the chance at Klopp. If he decides to stay with Dortmund (wait for Arsenal) then we've sacked Martinez and don't have a top shelf manager in place to replace him.

I guess this is the crux of my argument - Everton should NOT be looking for a manager to keep us in the mid table mix. We need someone that is truly exceptional. But we need someone exceptional that is willing to work under serious financial and cultural constraints. This is a unicorn. Last season Roberto seemed to be the unicorn we were looking for. Maybe he's not! But I don't feel that it will be easy to find it, and I still remember how good it felt when I thought he was it.

I'd rather persist with the hope Martinez is it then give up on it, or even have faith the next one will be it.

Obviously if we could get someone like Klopp or Simeone that would be different, but I really don't think either of them would be willing to come to Everton to work on a shoestring budget in a league with more big fish than their current leagues.

Right now Klopp deals with massive Bayern. We deal with massive United, Chelsea, and City as well as pretty damn big Arsenal.

Why would he give up Dortmund for us?
