When I hear the name Bob or Bobby, I instinctively think of Latchford. Martinez needs to prove himself before he's given a 'walk on water' name. For now, I'm sticking with Roberto, which happens to be his name. If it has to be shortened, I'll keep the spanish 'o' and call him Robbo.

Moyes was good in relation to what went before, and he gave us a lot of the qualities we were woefully lacking under that clown Smith. That doesn't make him a great Everton manager though.

A great manager for Everton but not a great Everton manager mayhaps. I just wish he would've had about 5-8mill more a season to spend. I'm slightly interested to see what he manages at United because of that difference.

You think Latchford is a legend? My dad never rated him, said he was selfish and went missing in big games. Never won anything, like.

Probably my age, I was a teenager when we signed Latchford, I idolised him. He could miss as many as he put away but on his day he was a superb finisher, I wish we had someone who could slot 30 league goals in a season now. Dixie Dean rated him, that's good enough for me, he called him "that fella that walks on water".

...Latchford was an out and out goalscorer. Not sure about him going missing in games, he would only come alight in the 6 yard box. Latchford may not compare with true Everton top players but he was decent.

In my mind he would only be referring to himself.

Very well put that mate.

Yes, probably about right. An appropriate Everton manager for a particular period.

I shudder to think what lies in store for him there at OT. He might be chuffed with an FA Cup win and thrilled by a bona fide title chase, but the fans, his employers and the press will slaughter him if he fails to hand them usual levels of success.

I'm really pleased we've got him, but if he says 'phenomenal' one more time I'm going to swing for him

Id rather hear "we were phenomenal" in our post match press conferences than "we are really dishappointed".
